I played a 160 × 144 game earlier. It was good.

I'm not proud of myself for knowing that's Game Boy without having to look it up.

You did, however, gain some respect from me.

Let's be frank, if a PC manufacturer was selling a PCs with the same CPU, but config X had a HD 7770, with DDR RAM, and cost $499 - and config Y had a HD 7850, with GDDR RAM, and cost $399, there would not be fanboys arguing that X was better or the same on the internet. X would get horrible reviews for performance and value, and no recommendations from anyone serious.

Absolutely.

Of course any experienced PC builder knows the heart of the game is maximum build and performance for the minimum bill.

Hardcore console gamers on the other hand tend to have even more of an emotional investment in the products they support than even those involved in the AMD vs. Intel/AMD vs. Nvidia debate, yet most builders still acknowledge it comes down to performance/price whether they're buying red or green.

But, since these are enclosed gaming environments rather than a box of separately sourced parts, the best a console gamer can hope for is that "their" company can build the best box with the best specs/hardware for the least amount of money when it comes to price/performance ratios.

That's why I thought the Killzone 6 thing was so funny. All this stuff about how important native 1080p is and it turns out these same people had no idea the game wasn't native 1080p. Had no idea and believed it not because they could see this uber important resolution when they played, but just because the developers told them it was.

It is 1080p native.

Not the MP, which is what everyone harps on when celebrating the "1080p60" stuff. The best you can say is GG tried to emulate a native 1080p resolution, but failed (as even they admit). And even if they HAD successfully emulated full native HD, the technique they used to do it blurs the shit out of everything when you move, so it kind of defeats the purpose of this "cleaner, sharper" screen quality we hear so much about in these resolution shenanigans.

Again, just hilarious to me that some people who spent so much time preaching about how next gen was 1080p and 60fps, had no idea their ace in the deck was neither. Nothing more for me to say on the matter, the lulz speak for themselves.

Not because you are blind that everyone else is blind.

You need to see a doctor an check you eyes.

I dont remember PS2 fans whining about xbox being more powerful and having better games back in 2001, they just accepted that fact ( well, the fact PS2 had more games helped)

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

The thing with the resolution war is that the X1 costs $100 more than the ps4 but its under-performing in the same games, so the resolution and frame rates are important cause people that buy the X1 are paying $100 more and it is not being justified... Other than that, yea its pretty useless overall

Everyone knows that around $150 is going towards the Kinect though, no one said it was for "extra power".

There are no wars, 1080p should be a standart in 2014 and it is, it is 2 times better than 720p, fanboys defending x1/wii u or developers which can't handle 1080p are irrelevant.

Agreed.

Also I can't understand the point of defending a console maker that just tried to save a few dollars of production cost by sticking to 720p.

After playing 1080p games I certainly don't want to go back to 720p because I noticed a difference (everything just looks crisper to me). However, if a game only does 900p then obviously I'll take it unless I can play it on pc at a higher resolution. I don't have a gaming pc so that's really not an option.

I guess it's a big issue because people use it to gloat about having the 'superior' version... people did it last gen with 360 vs ps3 and people are now doing it with ps4 vs xbox one.

I'm sorry, the correct answer is its not full HD.

Native Resolution means that the whatever the output is it is not scaled/stretched. Rendering has no bearing on whether or not a display output is native or not. As long as the game outputs 1920x1080p per display frame, then it is 1080p regardless of how its rendered.
