ps4 fans are nervous. They don't have the games, so they resort to sales and specs comparisons. If it is proven that the DX12 is compatible with XB1 it shakes up their world. I have done a ton of reading and DX12 could be a game changer. ps4 fans have been on edge with this news and Titanfall coming out in a few days, I find it hilarious. Just use logic MSFT customized their chips with AMD, forward thinking. Also MSFT have released numerous clues without saying too much, just wait for March 20. I have a feeling XB1 was just released early and the real XB1 will be annouced soon.

Xbox fans are nervous. The almighty cloud-power was a dud, so they resort to tech speculations and are hoping for a secret sauce as savior.

Just use logic: if the big forward thinking plan of MSFT and AMD was DX12 from the beginning... where does the mantle-piece (pun intended) fit in the puzzle. Why did AMD waste millions of dollars on mantle, if the same improvements also come a few months later from their buddies at MSFT?

Nobody is nervous lol. Are you not tired of using those buzzwords : nervous, desperate, blah blah blah. The only one I see constantly posting to downplay anything related to the Xbox One here are not the Xbox One enthousiasts for sure; Xbox fans are mostly enjoying their console :)

By the way, I have my Xbox One (and preordered 2 other Titanfall bundle for next tuesday). I'm VERY happy with my choice and I'm looking forward for what Microsoft has in store for this awesome piece of hardware.

You are so right about them enjoying their consoles. I never see people on this forum or anywhere else that own Xbox Ones complain about anything. A couple launch titles that run a higher resolution and still only look slightly better is nonthing.  Xbox One keeps getting game afther game afther game.  Plans VS Zombies just released, Titanfall drops in a couple days with Project Spark set to drop next.

The downplaying in this thread is incredible.

So are the overexaggerations.

From which side?  And where are all these exagerations?  Maybe point the community to all the perpetrators

And wouldnt this be an exageration as well?  Seems to me youre looking at a fraction of the comments rather than the whole picture.  I can go to literally  almost every thread and pick out comments like this from one or two people.  However there is rarely times that you can go to a thread where the majority of comments are like this.  And if you were to go through this thread will you find more downplaying or over-hyping? Or are we just going to attack one group and defend the other because, well it fits my agenda?  After all "Why is Sony even making games".  As if your original comment wasnt an over-exageration xD

Even more so people are making claims without seeing what exactly DX12 is which makes it all the more amusing.

The exaggeration comes from anyone who claimes that the new DX12 could have a performance boost close to mantle on PC. This is simply rubbish.

DX12 won't even have  such a big performance boost on PC, on consoles only a fraction of it.

You can tell the future?  Even more so is there people claiming that it will effect XBO more than PC?  So what makes it rubbish?  You seem to have the worlds answers before they appear so maybe youre the one im looking for to answer these for me.

So who is going to be the next president for USA?  You should know, after all you can claim things before we know anything at all

Dont worry guys, dont even tune in to hear what MSFT has to say at GDC, Vivster already has the answers.  He will tell us now

Sorry, this one was a freebie. Anything more will cost ya extra.

Also I already told you the answers. DX12 will have a moderate performance boost on PC and the performance boost on X1 will be negligible.

I can see it in my crystal ball that's filled with an extra portion of common sense and one spoon of technology 101.

I'll give you a hint: performance boost on APIs is achieved by bringing them closer to hardware level. How much closer can you get an API on a console that already is as close to the hardware as it gets?

No I see embarassing posts from both fanbases. Which is pretty much the case for every thread nowadays.

When you understand the technologies it isn't telling the future, it's common sense.

Well, he did explain his reasoning.

I was mostly sarcastic... I thought that was clear using the same buzzwords and phrasing as true_fan

The Xbox One seems to be a good console and I will probably get it in 2015 or 2016 for exclusives. But I don't think that DX12-enhancements will considerably narrow the performance gap between PS4 and XBO since the XBO-DX11 is already a low-level-API. I even hope that I am wrong with that estimate... stronger competition is good for both consoles in the long run.

According to developers the X1 already uses a Mantle-like interface allowing direct hardware access and not Direct X. DX12 is only relevant for PC gaming by porting over things that are already available on X1. The X1 will not benefit because it already has all the direct hardware access features of DX12.
