That's right, Nintendo is the new EA. Take some time... let your mind process it. It's quite a hard journey to acceptance but we can do this together guys.

If you need evidence about what I am saying you just need to see the recent Nintendo news. Remember when Mario was not a yearly release? Well I do, Mario was a game that we waited with anxiety for years,It got us crazy! Nowadays we have one per year! Just like some EA franchises.

Not only that but Nintendo is embracing DLC in their games, something that some years ago would have been considered heresy...

And you know how EA is an evil company right? Well Nintendo isn't too far behind in evil practices... if you need proof, come and read this: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=178963&page=1#

Even Maelstrom agrees with this and he already did an article about it, what further proof do you need guys?

I know what you are all thinking now, you are all in the "denial" phase. Don't worry I'm already at phase 4... depression. It's a long road but you'll get where I am in no time.

EDIT: I am posting the Maelstrom article for everyone to see. He makes some good points. http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2014/03/02/nintendo-x-ea-or-why-nintendo-will-remain-lost-in-the-wilderness/

Wow, you must have dual personality! First you praise my article, then you ostracize it, now you use it as reference?

You talk like being pro-Nintendo was some kind of disease that people deny at first. Take it easy

Nintendo's behavior has actually improved along the time. They were much worse in the 80's. I guess the DLCs and the 1-Mario-per-year practice is a normal reaction from a company that doesn't enjoy anymore the easy- business it had 2 or 3 decades ago.

In spite of these moves, Nintendo is not as greedy nowadays. They are entering in a new cycle (new facilities, HD development, etc.), which is a real challenge for them. Those bad moves may not be the bravest way to face the challenge but at least they are doing it. Well or badly, they are moving forward.

So, I would say EA is not as bad as you think and the same thing applies to the "new Nintendo". In these kind of environments (videogaming), where things grow exponentially, it is harder to have a decent performance in the current level than to champion an older one. Nintendo is finally entering in the 7th-gen-level with Wii U (please don't take me wrong, it's just the truth) and thus a new world of possibilities is opening for them. They need to embrace them. If they do it successfully, Nintendo fans will be amazed by experiencing Nintendo's quality on modern gaming.

I rather appreciate if you didn't imply I have a mental disorder as bipolairty. I never praised your article, if you didn't get my first comment (Where I "praise" you) it was actually a sarcastic remark, so yeah I was never in agreement with your article.

I use it in my thread because I found it to be good evidence about Nintendo being a lot like EA, with their evil practices and all that. The idea of the whole thread came from the Maelstrom article though.

Not until i have my Pikmin game where i can pay $0.50 to have them tear down a wall faster.

Until then, Nintendo has a lot of work to do.

They are working very hard:

Uhh... No.

How many people are going to remember Mass Effect in 15 years? How about 30?

You mean one of the greatest RPGs of the 7th generation? Yeah I'm sure it will be forgotten pretty quickly.

I'm not saying "forgotten entirely", but EA is playing in a far different league when it comes to "social relevance" except for EA and FIFA.

Somebody has finally said what we're all thinking. That takes courage.

Maelstrom has courage alright. He has been jumping hard on hardcore gamers heads for years. Join the (missed) revolution. The hardcore must be destroyed. Nintendo catering to them alone with Wii U is quite despicable and it shows in the sales.

Mass Effect will have that core following for a long, long time. People still go on about the likes of Final Fantasy VI and it was released 20 Years ago, so why wont people still be going on about Mass Effect in 15 Years time, when there will likely be Mass Effect stuff releasing around that time?

Hell, Baldur's Gate released in 1998 and it still has a fairly substantial following over 15 Years later. Mass Effect as a series far surpasses BG in mainstream popularity. Same could be argued of Knights of the Old Republic, though it isnt as old.

And Im gonna say this right now - The FIFA franchise in 2014 is bigger than any Nintendo IP, in terms of mainstream popularity.

Then you have things like Battlefield. Need for Speed. The Sims. Sim City. Madden. Medal of Honor.

And just to add a tad more, seeing as how we are talking about the popularity of big titles... EA Sports FIFA on Facebook has over 21 Million likes. Need for Speed on Facebook has 16.7 Million likes. The Sims on Facebook has 12.8 Million likes. Battlefield on Facebook has 6.9 Million likes. EA on Facebook has 2.7 Million likes. Nintendo on Facebook has 2.5 Million likes. Super Mario on Facebook has 1.9 Million likes.

I could go on, but Im not a sadist.

EA as a company (despite being "the worst company ever") is hugely popular with the mass market. People love EA. People put up with the shit EA does time and time again because well... People love EA's games. Its entirely arguable that theyre more popular than Nintendo in terms of software. Especially this Decade.

Or if those facebook likes couldn't be attributed to astroturfing or something equally nebulous

Nintendo tends not to pull shit like that.

It's good to note that Mario alone has 15M likes in Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/NintendoMario?fref=ts

Except Nintendo makes the best games in the industry, while EA's output is a mixed bag at best. :p

This opinion is not shared by most gamers. If it was, the Wiiu would be selling much more.

Actually..........that opinion IS backed up by "most gamers", considering that out of the Top 20/30/50/100 selling games of all time (take your pick), MOST of them are Nintendo made or published titles.

Also, as if this actually needs to be restated for the umpteenth time, there are a sizeable amount of gamers who have been waiting to buy a Wii U when either Mario Kart, Smash Bros., or Zelda U come out. Many on these very boards have echoed that exact sentiment. The Wii U simply has not had a truly "must have" title(s) since it's launch yet, but these games will be that, and they will sell accordingly.
