I don't see why it would, 2014 is nothing to the character of Yoshi.

1984 was the year his character was designed, they decided not to add him in any games on NES due to limited hardware.

I'm not so sure about that, or the year 1984, I know they wanted Mario to have some sort of companion after the original Super Mario Bros., but serious design wasn't done until Super Mario Bros. 3 in the late '80s and even then they probably didn't have a 'final' Yoshi yet. In any case, Yoshi's first appearance was in Super Mario World in 1990 which I, and Nintendo probably as well, would consider the only date that matters. Maybe next year, at Yoshi's 25th.

Meanwhile, at Nintendo HQ, Yoshi is cowering in a corner, petrified at the thought of "Year of Yoshi".

In another part of the complex, Luigi is partaking of his last cigarette. Iwata stands ready with the firing squad, having firmly planted the blame for the Wii U's struggles on the green-tinted plumber.

The guns roar and Yoshi whimpers quietly.

The year of Bankrupcy =/

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

That was kinda awesome.

If there's a year of Yoshi before a year of Samus, I may storm Nintendo's HQ.

Wow I didn't know that... I thought he was originally designed for SMB3 but they held him back for SMB 4 aka Mario World.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

People demanded a "mature" game from Nintendo, this could be it.

Yoshi's Great Escape.

Gawd! Why is Nintendo do fucking terrible with release dates?

That's a good idea.  Solid Lizard has to escape the Nintendo Complex using stealth and cunning, with Cyborg Mario hot on his heels.

I would play it.

Shigeru Miyamoto stated that Nintendo had wanted Mario to have a dinosaur companion ever since the first release Super Mario Bros.; however, it was not possible because of the limitations of the NES.[7] The inspiration for Yoshi can be traced back further, to the green dragon Tamagon in the 1984 video gameDevil World.
