Yoshi's Bloody Nightmare has more of a ring to it.
However, PETA might flip out just over the title... but wait till they get to the game.

That's a good idea. Solid Lizard has to escape the Nintendo Complex using stealth and cunning, with Cyborg Mario hot on his heels. I would play it. |
I know Solid Snake doesn't bother (many) people being how porn-y it is, but I can totally hear Mario suggest to Peach that she plays with his "Solid Lizard". I said mature, but not THAT mature... yet.
Also, MGS taking away elements of Escape From New York makes this an even weirder concept...

That actually means Yoshi, as he is, wasn't designed in 1984 though
. Only an idea and the inspiration were there in 1985 during development of Super Mario Bros.. The sentence after that confirms it: "During the development of Super Mario Bros. 3, Miyamoto had a number of sketches around his desk, including an image of Mario riding a dinosaur." So in 1988, Yoshi was still in the conceptual stage.
But I don't really care about any of these specifics. What I actually do find interesting, is the sentence after that: "Takashi Tezuka, a Mario series developer, speculated that Miyamoto's love of horse riding as well as country and western influenced Yoshi's creation. Didn't know that! That's cool
.
| DerpSandwich said: People need to stop saying this. There aren't enough games featuring Yoshi coming out, and there isn't nearly as much love for the character as there is for Luigi. Not gon' happen, Broseph. |
Yes, because Luigi getting one FULL game (Luigi's Mansion), 1 shared-headliner game (MARIO & Luigi: Dream Team), 1 eShop game (Dr. Luigi), 1 DLC pack (New Super Luigi U), and also "appearing" in some other "Mario" games (Super Mario 3D World, Mario Party: Island Tour) sure was a LOT of "pure" Luigi content...
Yoshi will likely have 2 FULL games (Yoshi's New Island, Yarn Yoshi) within the next year, along with appearing in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Golf: World Tour, getting Yoshi's Island DLC in Sonic Lost World, and they could easily have some more titles he'd appear in or even some eShop games or something.
That being said, I don't REALLY think it will happen, and I don't really care either way. Just pointing out that the "Year of Luigi" was still really just as much the "Year of Mario games featuring Luigi."
Upcoming Games To Get
Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)
Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Ya design I guess wasnt the right word but im just saying if they really wanted to make this Year of Yoshi they could say the idea/concept of Yoshi had been around for 30 years.
But ya I imagine Miyamoto just sitting there thinking up ideas for Mario and goin, "hmm I really like horses.......GREEN DINOSAUR!!!!!"
