Let's go to the most fundamental question:

Why? What could it possibly achieve? What did the "Year of Luigi" achieve?

Sure, it might create small forum hype, but it doesn't add anything meaningful, nor does it help with Nintendo's image.

I think the fans generally liked the year of Luigi. I personally found it fun and entertaining. As I have already stated, it gives a little extra buzz to a few things and gives a little extra something to talk about with very little time and effort spent on Nintendo's part.

Basically it provides a small marketing boost with virtually no effort. Explain to me how this makes it a "big waste of effort and time" or at the very least, explain to me how it takes up any significant effort and time from Nintendo...

Also, explain the "nor does it help with Nintendo's image" line. It certainly doesn't hurt Nintendo's image so I don't know what you are implying here...

TBF when year of luigi was announced we only knew of one game coming for Luigi (LM2), thenwe got NSLU/M+L Dream Team/SM3DW/Dr Luigi/etc)

My "love" comment still stands. I love Luigi, but I for one do NOT want a ton of Yoshi games being announced. He doesn't have the same presense as a character. Heck, he's not even a character, just an image.

Uhhhhhhhhhh C'mon!!! Yoshi is a great character, if not for him we wouldn't have the mario bros (in a story sense).

I cant help but agree with you however as he isnt as big as Luigi. But i can see the 2 announced games already with maybe just maybe a DLC of SM3DW with Yoshi and 1 unannounced game with him Co starring in it!
