People need to stop saying this. There aren't enough games featuring Yoshi coming out, and there isn't nearly as much love for the character as there is for Luigi. Not gon' happen, Broseph.

It would so ilogical, so useless and such a big waste of effort and time that Iwata might just greenlight it.

Yoshi would need more games, maybe on the eShop.

TBF when year of luigi was announced we only knew of one game coming for Luigi (LM2), thenwe got NSLU/M+L Dream Team/SM3DW/Dr Luigi/etc)

How exactly is calling this the year of Yoshi for marketing purposes a "big waste of effort and time"? All they would be doing different is acknowledging that they are releasing a lot of games with Yoshi this year and giving them a little marketing boost.

Make your point please

I think they are done with their Year ofs and will start focusing on actually making console-selling games.

This post is assuming that they weren't already deep in development on several "console-selling games", such as Mario Kart and Smash Bros. and Zelda, for years now. It typically takes 2-3 years to make a high quality title.

Let's go to the most fundamental question:

Why? What could it possibly achieve? What did the "Year of Luigi" achieve?

Sure, it might create small forum hype, but it doesn't add anything meaningful, nor does it help with Nintendo's image.

That the good-for-nothing Luigi got a whole year dedicated to him was bad enough. If Nintendo makes 2014 the Year of Yoshi the Metroid fan inside me will explode and split the earth in two. Samus deserves some love too, you cold-hearted bastards.

My "love" comment still stands.  I love Luigi, but I for one do NOT want a ton of Yoshi games being announced.  He doesn't have the same presense as a character.  Heck, he's not even a character, just an image.

It would fit the template of disappointment.
