Knack remains unstoppable.

PS4 probably supply issue, but still decent. 3DS dropping hard this year. Just 38k this week, Nintendo needs to bring the 2DS to Japan now. Software is doing quite good though. PSVita has stabilized at a, for it's standards, good number. WiiU at least won't be so ridiculously low is it was last year, but it's not good. Donkey Kong however, believe it or not, has some legs to him.

The reason people are suggesting supply is due to Knack and the PS4 totals.

Both Famitsu & Media Create have the total of this week & last week's sales as ~ 374k.  Both Media Create & Famitsu have Knack selling pretty much 1:1 with PS4 hardware.  

That seems to suggest that the stores have just been selling out of the remainder of their launch shipment and there isn't any other PS4 stock in Japan for the dates of this chart.

It is so either amazon JP are fleecing people, or its just reseller price as what happens in any other country when its sold out. Either way it means high demand.

Pretty much exactly 100k.  So you have to ask yourself "Do you think Vita will average 25k/week for the next 4 weeks?"

With the new bundle and a variety of software, I think it's probably quite likely, so by the end of March we'll see 2013 YTD = 2014 YTD.  Then we'll just have to see which year has better legs after that (I'm willing to wager it's 2014, because  so far this year we haven't seen any signs of it dropped below 15k whereas last year it continued to drop below 10k again after the price cut).


I actually did the math last week and begining with this week the Vita needs to average 17,552 through the week of April 7th to stay on par with 2013. And now with this weeks numbers it looks like it should be able to come out ahead of 2013's price drop period.

Freedom Wars should help the situation quite a bit.  I really think they will actually advertise the game well there.  

In regards to Japan I don't think SE will ever give Vita exclusivity priority over mobile.  Because many of their mobile games use Unity we can at least tweet Gio Corsi and work on getting ports and thus parity with the platform.  Things like Dues Ex: The Fall, Hitman Go(More help in EU/US), The World Ends With You: Solo Remix, DQ ports(for Japan) could take as little as a few weeks(Sony should go as far as getting  team to do it).  Those shouldn't require much effort from Sony or SE at all. If those cheap experiments are financially viable it could lead into Sony getting them into parity with mobile and thus significantly bolster Vita's lineup overall in short time.  Then we might be able to see some stuff like Type-0 and KHBBS localized.

Japan first two week cumulative totals:

wii, wiiU, DS, 3DS, psp, psvita, ps2 > ps4 > 360, ps3

 

i guess i can hope that this is purely supply constraint related but ps4 is starting worse than most system (from the ones i have data for).  i expected better.
