Go with X1, you get one of the best accessories ever in Kinect and, while the software is coming for it, you can still use it for Skype calls. Also, Titanfall looks completely awesome and if you haven't played Halo... well, you won't be disappointed :).

Missing a few games there on PS4; Deep Down, The Witness and RIME. Also Planetside 2 and FFXIV.

Playstation 4 is the better choice especially since you really like JRPGs. The X1 community is more geared towards shooters and action/adventure since most of the community is American or British. Expect Tales, Disgaea, Atelier, and others to stay Playstation-only. Other Japanese devs like Atlus and Level-5 may also go Playstation-only. Also, PS+ has really good value for what you get in return and the amount of indie games will help keep you occupied until the next AAA game.

Kinect is not enough to justify getting the X1. The functionality is far from perfect which is greatly disappointing in context of how much R&D MS put into it. In addition, it's cool at first, but the sense of novelty wears off really quickly.

PS4 - many exclusives like Uncharted 4, The Last of Us, The Order 1886, Driveclub, Infamous SS, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Killzone Shadow Fall and many other indie games like Resogun, Outlast or Contrast.

PS4. Everyone I know who has an xbone is disappointed with it.

As someone who owns both consoles, I can tell you that there is no point in getting either right now, beyond spending a few days marveling at pretty games that'll look dated in a few years anyway.

Neither PS4 or One have much in the way of exclusive next gen experiences and I'm not sure that the one big game each console is getting this month suddenly justifies paying launch price for them. Personally, I would suggest waiting a few years, or at least until the holidays, before buying. With luck, by the time the two platforms have a decent library they will both be cheaper, or at least come with more value. For the moment I'd recommend spending that money on JRPGs for consoles you already own.

Have you tried Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 or Sakura Wars for the Wii? Have you bought Bravely Default or Shin Megami Tensei for 3DS? Have you played the Persona games on the Vita? Speaking of which, if you don't own a PS3, 3DS or a Vita, they offer an infinitely better value then either next gen machine in my opinion.

I will say that Xbox One has the better line up right now. Knack sucks and Killzone is a pretty typical FPS. Knack's level design is really bland and whole thing plays like a game from the PS1 era, it's all very linear and scripted and there isn't much to do. Killzone is a lot better, offering some neat game play gadgets and such, as well as plenty of stealth opportunities and multiple ways to tackle different areas, but it's also extremely typical for it's genre. A last gen game with a current gen coating, really. Dead Rising 3 is probably my favorite experience between the two consoles period providing loads of zombie killing fun like I've never enjoyed before. It offers a huge improvement on the old, archaic Dead Rising formula and genuinely feels kind of next gen, offering the kind of scale that dwarfs any other zombie game I've played. It's still not a triple A title, but it offers more freedom and variety then any exclusive on PS4. One also has the deepest current next gen experience in the new Forza, as well as the best looking game in Ryse (which I'd put between Knacn and Killzone in terms of fun. Nothing special, but good, simple, extremely linear fun). PS4 is getting Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 though, and you said you loved those, so....yeah.
