Going with the XB1.

Granted, the Wii U has some big franchise sequels coming up, but it's been on the market long enough that there really isn't any indicator that the Wii U won't be the Game Cube of the 8th gen. GC had those big franchises as well.

Ur right that Wii U is likely the Gamecube of this generation but whats stopping Xbox One from being the original Xbox of this generation?

games, all 3rd party games ill get.

Its price cuts will help, while u is already at mass market prices and its not selling liek it is.

The original Xbox had great 3rd party support in terms of mulitplats and exclusives as well and was most powerful with by far the best online yet it only sold 25 million, just 3 million more than Gamecube.

It could definitely be argued that Xbox 360 greatly increased the brands popularity or maybe it only sold so well because of the huge price advantage over PS3, year head start, better online, best versions of multiplats in the first half of the gen and Kinect to lure in casuals in the second half.

Now that it doesnt have those advantages over Playstation anymore its very possible that the vast majority of core gamers that play 3rd party games and love online willl choose PS4 putting Xbox One back in a similar position as the original Xbox was.

Possibly a price cut and Titanfall will cause a huge surge in sales but at the same time Halo+$199 price tag within 6 months didnt get Xbox over 25 million.

The Xbox brand became an accepted and established brand after the XB360.

Really, one of the biggest problems the XB1 has currently is it's simply too expensive for what it currently offers. There's no big catalog of key franchises and the market for $500 consoles is a fairly limited one as we saw with the PS3 last generation.

A $399 SKU paired with established franchises and a back catalog of games will result in better sales, much like the PS3.

Like I said in my last response to BeElite, its very possible that the brand is simply bigger/more popular now than it was during the 6th gen but on the other hand maybe 360 only did as good as it did because it had a year headstart on PS3, was $200 cheaper, had much better online and best versions of multiplats in the beginning of the gen and later had a big casual hit with Kinect.

Now that it no longer has those advantages and based on current sales there is a strong chance that 3rd party multiplats will primarily be bought on PS4 while Xbox One is sold mainly because of its exclusives just like the original Xbox. If u compare the sales of some of the big exclusives on Xbox/360 u will see that they only sold a few million more despite having an extra 50+ million install base, to me that shows if PS4 does get a majority of 3rd party gamers that Xbox One sales will be more similar to Xbox than to 360.

Smash, Bayonetta 2, X and Mario Kart 8 VS Titanfall... Hmm...

Xbox has more than just Titanfall releasing this year. There is also Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Halo 2 Anniversary, Project Spark and of many 3rd party games not coming to Wii U.

Does not matter PS4 superior. PS4 is the clear chocie and is now untouchable but as far as battle for second and just how big 2nd palce will be is very open.  This is a battle for sales between X1 and U, bone set best sales records for xbox while U is selling worse then any other ninty console ever.

Market sees U as irrelevent and ill be lucky to get near 20m, X1 still has a chance a good one to carve out decent sales.  PS2 had plenty games xbox didnt, thing are much more even on PS4/X1 though PS4 is pulling away.

U dont see the fallancy of comparing the first xbox and first halo to an now established xbox and halo brands ?

X is irrelevent, will barely sale 1m even if its reviewd as the best in its genre this decade.  No one gives a shit about Bayonetta 2 it will struggle to claw its way to 500k.  Smash being on the far more popular 3ds hurt any chances ill help U hardware move, so it only leaves Kart.

So for the next year or so Us success rides on Mario Kart, while X1 falls back on a quality varied list of games first and 3rd party.

It all kinda depends on how the X1 behaves when it gets a major release; we haven't seen a (possible) big seller like TitanFall outside the Holiday season, but if it follows the pattern of the Wii U I'd say that Wii U will reach 10m first out of the two.

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Launch records dont really mean anything, Dreamcast had a record launch. Also Wii U & Xbox One launch really arent that drastically different, Wii U-2.25 million, Xbox One-3.09 million with both having about 800k unsold by the end of the holidays and Xbox One Is only outselling Wii U by 10k In the last few weeks. So far Its looking like a GC vs Xbox scenario moreso than GC vs 360. Of course Xbox One still has a chance to carve out decent sales and it probably will but Wii U has a chance to as well, ya It had a bad year but that doesnt mean Its Impossible for It to better Itself.

Halo barely grew at all during the 7th gen. Halo 2-8.49 million, Halo 3-11.88 million only a 3 million growth despite 360 having an extra 50+ million install base, Fable went from 2.66 to 4.94 and  Forza-5.13 vs Project Gotham Racing-2.11. If multiplat buyers choose PS4 by a large margin than its up to exclusives to push Xbox One and since the major exclusives on 360 saw only minor increases over the original Xbox than its not likely they will push tremendous sales. The success of Xbox depends greatly on how big a chunk of the multiplat crowd its able to get.

There is a very strong chance that the Xbox brand grew because of the 360 but there is an equel chance of it only selling like it did thanks to its advantages over PS3 and now that those advantages no longer exist the brand may revert back to where it was pre-360.
