The Xbox brand became an accepted and established brand after the XB360. Really, one of the biggest problems the XB1 has currently is it's simply too expensive for what it currently offers. There's no big catalog of key franchises and the market for $500 consoles is a fairly limited one as we saw with the PS3 last generation. A $399 SKU paired with established franchises and a back catalog of games will result in better sales, much like the PS3. |
Like I said in my last response to BeElite, its very possible that the brand is simply bigger/more popular now than it was during the 6th gen but on the other hand maybe 360 only did as good as it did because it had a year headstart on PS3, was $200 cheaper, had much better online and best versions of multiplats in the beginning of the gen and later had a big casual hit with Kinect.
Now that it no longer has those advantages and based on current sales there is a strong chance that 3rd party multiplats will primarily be bought on PS4 while Xbox One is sold mainly because of its exclusives just like the original Xbox. If u compare the sales of some of the big exclusives on Xbox/360 u will see that they only sold a few million more despite having an extra 50+ million install base, to me that shows if PS4 does get a majority of 3rd party gamers that Xbox One sales will be more similar to Xbox than to 360.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
