Maybe it's not Nintendo's fault... maybe people just don't want to buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games.... maybe Nintendo... maybe Nintendo was a fad...

My interpretation of the recent 'Nintendo Fusion' rumors is that the fully backwards compatible system will be announced at this years E3.

COM MEMORY: 3 GB LPDDR3 (2 GB Games, 1 GB OS)
2 130 mm DVGA (960 x 640) Capacitive Touchscreen  ...so back to 4:3 for the upper screen? I don't think so!
Slide Out Design with Custom Swivel Tilt Hinge
Upper Screen made of Gorilla Glass, Comes with Magnetic Cover ... why only Gorilla glass for the upper screen?
Low End Vibration for Gameplay and App Alerts
2 Motorized Circle Pads for Haptic Feedback ...which reduce the battery time
Thumbprint Security Scanner with Pulse Sensing Feedback
2 1mp Stereoptic Cameras
Multi-Array Microphone
A, B, X, Y, D-Pad, L, R, 1, 2 Buttons
3 Axis Tuning Fork Gyroscope, 3 Axis Accelerometer, Magnetometer
NFC Reader
3G Chip with GPS Location ...3G in 2015/2016? Why not LTE? The price difference is neglible, 3G is too slow for enhancing gameplay (for example multiplayer)... the 3G Vita has the same problem

16 Gigabytes of Internal Flash Storage (Possible Future Unit With 32 Gigabytes)
Nintendo 3DS Cart Slot

Mini USB I/O ...Mini-USB in 2015/2016? It's been replaced for years by Micro-USB (smartphones, tablets, PS4 controller...)
3300 mAh Li-Ion battery ... for all the things above, that should be enough for one hour gaming, perhaps even two ;)

Fusion Terminal

or something completely different than this wishlist

Indeed, people seems to not realize this. Nintendo could have a loyal fanbase on home consoles but every generation there are less of them. At this point there is nothing they can do. So, its not fully Nintendo's fault, even though they have failed maintaining its own fanbase interested on their systems.

They made many mistakes but despite of that they still never had a chance to succeed in the modern landscape of gaming hardware. The competition from X360, PS3, PS4, PC, tablets and smartphones was simply too hard.

Nintendo will release another home console to replace the Wii U since they're a conservative Japanise company, but their main strategy for survival will be to go multiplatform and focus on their software strength. Wii U will be terminated within two years.

Yeah, It's their fault.

Reality:

Of course it's Nintendo's fault! Their s*hit marketing, confusion with Wii brand names, no 3rd Party Support etc. all led to where they are right now, the bottom.

Fanboy conspiracy theory:

It's not Nintendo's fault! Evil Sony and Microsoft paid the government and the media to:

1. Blackmail 3rd Parties to prohibit them from making games for the system.
2. Make the product [Wii U] look like shit.

It's Obama's fault.

Well who else's fault could it be?

Although marketing is part of the problem I personally don't think excellent marketing would have saved the wii u. On the wii third party multiformat games sold very poorly because people realised the console was technically weak and not very good at running such games. They wanted experiences that were unique to wii and those were the games that sold well. People already had tablets they used and the wii u can't play wii games out of the box. It also can't match 360, PS3 or next gen consoles in performance. It has limited media functinality and won't play dvds or blu-rays. It is limited to what home cinema systems you can connect it to as there is no coaxial, optical outputs and no support for dolby or dts 5.1 sound. Both ps3 and 360 offer vast libraries of technically more impressive games. They also feature better controllers with proper analogue triggers for driving games etc. They cost less and the games can be picked up for very little money. Both offer proper online functionality for multiplayer gaming. Xbox live is best but Sony offer free online gaming for ps3. Nintendo are dropping online support for existing online games for wii.

Nintendo love to price high but deliver very little to their customers.

So it's the consumers fault for growing tired with Nintendo's consoles?
