Forums - Gaming - When Will PS4 Surpass WiiU in Japan? (If it does)

Nintendo is getting those. Super Smash Bros., Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles X, ZeldaU etc...

I didn't say nintendo would not get their games but we have already seen, on numerous occassions, how the market reacts to nintendo's heavy hitters.  To this point we have not seen how the japanese market will react to the ps4 when it gets a major exclusive release.

...Yeah, because the Wii was a runaway success. How hard is it to understand that Wii U is not remotely comparable to the Wii in terms of success?

But the PS4 is comparable to the PS3 in success...

In the west the success of the PS4 has been far greater but in Japan it has been going slower, the market over there has just shifted in another direction unfortunately, that doesn't mean though that the PS4 can't still outsell the Wii U in Japan with a steady stream of japan centric games.

Never said it wouldnt outsell the WiiU. Just said that it might not.

It isn't, but this brings us back to my initial point... we won't see what the PS4 can really do in Japan until the system starts getting a steady stream of games for that market. The console moving performance of MK8 (aka the biggest game the Wii U'll probably ever get) in Japan has painted a pretty bleak picture for the console over there, it's now up to the PS4 to get games from japanese third parties (which it will) and show if it can do better than the Wii U.

Sales right now are not really representative of what the PS4 can do in Japan.

Sure. PS4 still has more to come. But when the big games como to PS4, Wii U will have MK8 (as you pointed), Smash, Hylure Warriors, X and many more to come. Is not like Wii U will stop selling until games come to PS4

X?  Didn't the first one flop in Japan?   More people bought X360 jrpg's in Japan then they did the first Xenoblade. I wouldn't really count that as a major seller to drive consoles.

Yes, X. Of course it will not move 100k Wii Us FW, but it will help to keep sales in a good level

Keep your quote trees down people. Maximum of 3 per post.

I think it's going to be a wait.

Maybe a year after FFXV launches?

tbf, just cuz MK8 will probably be the biggest Seller on wiiu in japan does not mean it was suppose to be the biggest system seller. I think there are a number of titles that can push much more wiiu's in japan. I mean DQX pushed more than SM3DW despite SM3DW outselling it 10:1!
