Once its cheap enough i imagine alot of people will get it for there second console, as again it differntiates itself more than XO and PS4, once you have one of those 2 its better to get a Wii U than the other. 

looking at the ps4 sales i dont think casuals are completely gone

i doubt they will get wiiu as their second console.....not many people know about the nintendo brand outside handhelds

Brilliant, theyve been in the industry the longest, they have the best selling ips on consoles by miles, weve just come of the back of a generation where they sold 100M units on Wii, Yep no one knows Nintendo make consoles. 

i am only talking abt consoles here

No wii sold because of Wii Sports, Motion controls was a gimmick that only Wii Sports took financial advantage of. 

Well your entitled to your opinion that not many people know about nintendo Consoles, but youll find few that would agree with that statement.

I Believe over that last 3 generations, people have now come to realise that they only buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. The wii cost $250 and came with a killer title, before that there most expensive console was $200 at launch, so to ask for $300 with no must have title, people are just walking away, but they will come back when they see that $200 price, to play those Nintendo games. 

 

No one buys Nintendo to play 3rd party games, PS4 is selling great guns because it has no competition, its the Best spec at the lowest price for 3rd party games, if the XO had a lower price than PS4 or a higher spec than PS4, then things would be a lot closer.

yeah price is helping it too..not denying that

look at what happened to ps3 and 3ds when the price was dropped and what both had in common was strong brand...sorry but i dont the same thing happening to wiiu

look at what happened to ps3 and 3ds when the price was dropped and what both had in common was strong brand...sorry but i dont the same thing happening to wiiu

PS3 and 3DS sales sure did pick up with there price drops, but they both gonna sell alot worst than there predecessor.

I think actually to be honest Nintendo doesn't do a great job with kids.

How is a kid who was born in say 1999 supposed to know what the hell Kid Icarus is? Or Star Fox? Or even Zelda to some degree? They'd only be 6/7 years old when Twilight Princess came out.

And now Nintendo is losing kids like crazy to smartphones/tablets ... I would guarantee you more kids know Angry Birds or Candy Crush than most of Nintendo's IP roster.

I think the best play now is to try and get a new generation of kids hooked, if they don't then it's going to be difficult for Nintendo relying on 30-40 year olds to buy their supposed "kid centric" IP.

Casual gamers are a difficult audience. They have a million things to be entertained by and don't necessarily care for anything even slightly more difficult than a 2D Mario game at most.
