I never claimed to be good, perhaps I'm bad I don't know. I used to be put in many hours on the 360 getting 1000's on games. I don't have time for that anymore so any serious investment in time is not something I appreciate nowadays.

I want to be able to breeze through a game because I have a backlog. That's what the easy setting is for, is it not? Why bother having it otherwise? It's for people who want to enjoy the story. I wanted to enjoy the story but I couldn't because I was forced to grind.

What I am really criticizing are two design choices:

1. Easy should be easy, it shouldn't force you to grind or even die that early in a game. Games that escalate in difficulty are the best designed games. No game should start out by being ball-breaking hard. Game design should focus on easing the playing into the world by raising the difficulty as the game goes along.

2. Resource system. This should NEVER have been tied to main progression. Never. Period. This is inexcusably bad. design. The fact that you need mana to proceed and the fact that you can run out of mana without an easy way to replenish it is just downright wrong.

So, all and all, Ni Nu Kuni is a terribly unbalanced game with some downright broken mechanics.

Yeah but NONE of what you said makes ense because...

1. The game was easy even normal. Just as many in the thread have stated. Also it is a freaking JRPG what JRPG have you just blown through without having to grind/level up? That's kind of what makes a JRPG a JRPG if you ask me. The grinding so yeah it is not a game you can jsut blow through. You have action/adventure games for that. Platformers, fighting games, FP/TP shooters etc.

2. The resource system was one of the best things about the game and replenishing mana was never an issue.

Personally I just think you went into the game with the wrong mindset. If you don't have the time to invest then a JRPG is not something you should be playing. Even on easy in a JRPG leveling/grinding is neccessary in order to get through the game. In all honest you are the first person I have heard call this game hard. Your complaints seem to not be about the game itself but more so about the choices you made with the game. Not getting on your or anything it is just like your are blaming the game for you no tbeing able to handle it. No big deal though just forget about this game and enjoy all the other games you have to play!

The game was too easy. The easiest JRPG to date. The game makes you way to powerful.. Therefore its good that they dind't recahrge it as that would have amde it even more easy lol. It seesm like you expect games to speen feed you throughout teh game lol. Don't know why peopel say friendly Ai is stupid as i had no problems at all. they were smart enough in abattle . plsu you get alo t of money in teh game to buy stuff

Hard? this games a cake walk lol JRPG's in general are easy if you know what you're doing.

I also hated the game, but not for the reasons you listed. Hell, I ripped it a new one not too long ago. Gameplay is boring, pacing is horrible, and unlike you, I thought it was too easy. I do agree the party members are dumb, and the tactics command doesn't remedy that.

Funny. I never had any problems with MP. I sure had to manage it carefully at times but it was never too difficult. I don't remember which dungeon you're talking about but I don't remember having any problems with MP in any puzzle. The one in the first town could have been problematic but when you have to cast a spell that costs a lot and you have an idea about what to do, it *might* be a good idea to plan ahead a little bit.

Also, resource management. I'm sure I didn't mention it already but when you have limited resources, you have to be careful managing them. Personally I loved the fact that the game wasn't holding hands too much and I'm sure I would've liked if it did so even less.

Do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you call a game bad without having spent a single hour playing it? Also, as pretty much everyone said on this thread (and mentioned in every nino kuni  related thread), the game is extremely easy. Most people who played it never died at all. I played for 140 hours (you can beat it in less than 40 without grinding) and died only a few times (about 5 not counting the coliseum fights).

I'm not saying, playing it again. What I am saying is that you have no real argument here. I respect people's opinions even when they say they hated it, because they played it. You can't just call a game unbalanced or broken just cause it doesn't fit your needs. If it was any easier, it would have been bashed by critics. The general consensus of people who played it is that the game is VERY VERY easy.

One of my favorite games this generation.

Maybe you should just stick to Call of Duty where you get rewarded for failing.

I ran out too the first time. It just took grinding for 5 minutes near by for the next level up to have a full mana bar again. Not rocket science.

Not that rocket science is hard either, why do people say that?

LOL
Died twice in first dungeon.. On EASY.

The only gripe I have about the game is that there isn't a hard mode.
One of my favorite games of all time.

1. I haven't played the game, but just considering the fact that you died twice on easy makes it hard to trust anything you say. The only time I ever diedon the first level of an rpg was final fantasy tactics, when I was like 11 years old.

2. What if the only way to proceed was to find a key to the door? Would you go back and look for the key, or is that bullshit as well?

What the resource system actually tells me is that they designed the game so that if you play it strategically, you don't have to search for any specific items because it is your SKILL that lets you continue. Once I would learn this, I would conserve my mana in order to progress faster. From what I've heard of the game, magic makes the game a cakewalk, so either you can blow through the battles or blow through the dungeon. I think that that is actually good design.
