If I was Op I would retire from playing games after this....

i played the DS one at it wasnt anything special aside nice storitelling and cutscenes, honestly

Funnily best JRPGs of late years have been found on Nintendo HW

To be fair, yes the cutscenes and the art is really gorgeous. It's what made me excited to play it in the first place. Everything was fine until I hit the first dungeon.

I got mad and read up on it and how it gets worse with some later bosses and unruly AI. So, yeah glad I got rid of it.

Apparently you can go back to town, waste all your hard-earned coins on a few new potions, or sleep, or grind more monsters for mana drops.

The monsters in the first dungeon hit hard...really hard. Died at least two times.

It's safe for me to say Ni No Kuni is one of the absolutely worst JRPGS ever made.

But that's not what pisses me off; it's the fact that I couldn't progress in the main story because I ran out of mana. WHAT? I have NEVER seen a worse design choice in any JRPG. I can't even recall any game in the genre that has puzzles tied to your resource system where you can actually run out and fail to progress. And no, I'm not going to grind more monsters for mana just so I can proceed with the main story; that's incredibly stupid.

That is some bullshit design.

Ni No Kuni is a 9.0+ game imho.

This is a JRPG. So those elements are central to the core gameplay for most every JRPG in existance, and even if it wasn't you adapt and overcome.

Gold coins are a very traditional game design. Yes if you needed mana you would need the iced coffee sold in the item shop and found in treasure chests. Instead you chose not to aquire items not to open chests and pull a leroy jenkins, and got pwned. Now you're here whining about it for sympathy? Really? Ok then I'm done explaining to you how pathetic this thread sounds.

Honestly, I think the game is horrible too, but it just sounds like you arent very good. Do you play many jrpg's? My problem with the game is the story, but I didnt think combat was that bad. The characters were all stupid, but gameplay was probably the best thing about the game...

Did you try starting over after that happened to see if the game just glitched? I mean that kind of stuff happens. And while I thought the game was good it was not what most made it out to be. And sorry but I have to agree from what you wrote it just sounds like you were not very good. Especially if you played on easy...

Oh and if it makes you feel better I liked both Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey better than Ni No Kuni. And both of them were more difficult so I don't know man....I just don't know what to say...

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

OMG!!! Another dumb ass gamer. All true rpg fans can tell you that they prefer challenging quest and gameplay than anything else with good stories. Stay away from them. You will give Jrpgs bad rep. NOOB!!!

As a hardcore JRPG fan, Ni no Kuni was one my favorite JRPGs last-gen. I did not find it difficult at all. The only times I've died was in the S-Rank challenge in the Coliseum. Really enjoyed the gameplay mechanics, story, and soundtrack. Put about 130 hours into the game to Platinum it.

Lol not to much on the OP guys. Maybe its just not for him.

I for one loved the hell outta this game.
