Mario Kart 8 will flop, Vita will rise!

Yup, MK8 will flop hard! 71 16.44%

Both Wii U and Vita will be lucky to hit 20 million at this point.

Mario Kart won't "save" the Wii U.

Both Wii U and Vita will be looked back upon as disappointments.

If you like either system you should just enjoy them for what they are and keep your sales expectations extremely modest.

Well, it won't sell as well as MK Wii but it won't "flop"... still sell over a million and make $$

Why YES! And in related news, Windows will cease being the world's premier OS choice, with a massive wave of consumers choosing Mac OS instead. In 10 years time, everyone will be using Mac, not Windows.

Oh wait...........

I don't think there is any indication that Nintendo's franchises have lost any power that they used to have. I would point to the gamecube as an example that in the past Nintendo franchises haven't been enough to push a system to a high install base all by themselves. They need to sell into a large install base to produce large numbers of sales. And if the current console Nintendo has on the market isn't an appealing purchase then Nintendo franchises will suffer as a result. The only reason the Wiiu has as many sales as it does have is due to the strength of Nintendo's first party games. Eventually when there is a large enough lineup of stellar first party games and the price is considerably lower I think you'll see the Wiiu take off a bit more and previously released games will have long legs as a result. Mario Kart on Wiiu may only sell a few million this year but if Nintendo continues to support the Wiiu for 3 or 4 more years I could easily see the game produce sales of 7 to 10 million in the long run.

I am very suspicious.

Kart and Smash will do well, relatively speaking, but I don't think they'll be the almighty savior I once imagined. They'll bump the hardware, though it might be a really short effect.

Nintendo needs new evergreen IP hits that aren't platformers and they need them badly.

2015 will be a good year for the Vita, though I doubt we'll see more than a moderate improvement. I just want to see the numbers creeping upward at a steady rate. It would surprise me to see it last less than five more years.

I think Sony supports most of it's consoles for 10 years am I right? With 10 years I'm pretty sure the Vita can catch up to the 3DS, it's a lot of time to improve!

At the rate it's going, the vita will sell a little over 30 million in 10 years.... Maybe Sony supports it for 20 years though! Maybe then... If they are still in existence.... Or if they haven't been absorbed by samsung, google, Microsoft....

They won't flop, but they'll probably sell less than everyone expected, like 3D World.

It's time someone made this thread. I am calling it now before MK 8 releases!

I think we can conclude with recent sales that Nintendo franchises have lost the power they used to have. 3D and 2D Mario aren't selling like before and even Donkey was hit by it. Even Pokemon is down from previous games... Nintendo as a whole is losing money, things sure look pretty bad for them! So before we get our hopes up for nothing I'll crush your expectations.

Mario Kart 8 will have a terrible first week. Don't be surprised if it hits less than 150k globally on it's first week in the market. I also expect it to give no boost to the Wii U at all. Well maybe a very small boost, like 3k or something like that.

Now what about the Vita? I am calling it too. The Vita is currently experiencing solid numbers in Japan, barely droping week on week! Europe is showing promising numbers too. The only place where the Vita need to stablish a footing is on the US, and I expect Sony this year to finally breath life on the struggling console. I expect them to announce a big IP for the Vita in E3 followed by a Vita price cut. I expect the system to rebound this year. If everything goes well the Vita will have a really good 2015. As the Vita grows, the 3DS will be on decline so I expect the Vita to start shrinking the gap with the 3DS.

Also as the Vita is a very modern piece of technology I expect it to be supported for a long time so I think the Vita has a good chance of outselling the 3DS in the end. Yes the Vita will rise!

Oh I was going to add Super Smash Bros in the OP but I think I dragged for too long. But if I had to guess that game will flop too.

150K FW Globally!!!!

Now that you know your prediction was off my a million, are you having second thoughts about your SSBU prediction?

Seems like I was completely off in my prediction... on my defense... there where 59 people that agreed with me!

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Hahahaha this thread.

Just ordered MK8 today, too.
