And the fact that the ps3 was only released in two territories up until March '07 had no effect whatsoever? Or the fact that the only reason the ps3 could be found on shelves so soon after launch was because of it's exorbitantly high price?

MS had shipped 10.6 million 360s by the end of '06, so any droughts would've been easily handled by the end of the year. In comparison, Sony stated they finally shipped 10.5 million ps3s just this past week. Sony shipped less and sold more than Microsoft, at a much higher price. Don't give me any of this drought BS.

:/ let me guess. You're one of those that believe the PS3 will NEVER reach or surpass the 360 & wii figures uh? OK but to be clear when I say 2009 I'm primarily talking about the fiscal year (April'09-Mar2010) but I'm sure you knew that anyways.

I welcome your prayers for the PS3 sucess and ignore your jab with "increase in quality". When you do get one you'll likely enjoy it with the other ten's of millions of people too so good on ya. :)

 

Also, the time I dedicate to VGs and the industry is moderated with the rest of my life so I'm fine thanks for your concern though. And yes, it's been a while since I've been in math class but I'm doing OK with what I do, again, thanks for the concern.

 ummm.... chubar, I don't think he was trying to say the PS3 will never beat the 360 or the Wii. He was just saying that while the PS3 might pass the 360 WW by 09, it probably won't be able to pass the Wii until at least late 2010 because the Wii continues to sell very well andshows no signs of slowing down significantly in the near future. That being said, I am confident the PS3 will be in second place by March, 09 and I wouldn't be suprised to it start seriously eroding the Wii's lead about that time as well. However, there are a lot of factors such as when games come out, when Nintendo drops the price of the Wii, or how fast the PS3 gets to $250-$300, so my estimates could be far off. Bottom line: the future is hard to predict, so don't bother...

Uhmmm, so what does it say when a console launched a year later, being more expensive, was prey to the most crazy anti-viral smear campaign ever, had two massive competition to deal with and "no" games to speak off... and still sold better/faster than the 360? Wow.


Don't forget that PS3 didn't launch in Others (its best market) for months after the US/Japan launch.

the ps3 is 4 months faster to 10 million than the 360. the wii is 8 months faster than the ps3 and12 months faster than the 360. AMAZING!!! HOW YOU LIKE THEM APPLES!!



the nintendo wii will outsell the ps3 and the 360 combined by the end of 2008.                           

        PS3 will out sell the 360 june 2010.                                                                      

  GOTY of 2008 is super smash brothers brawl.... hopefully.

xbox 360 sold less in 2007 than it did in 2006. will that improve in 2008? dont think so

xbox 360 is selling just over 2 million more units than the xbox did at this point

meaning that the 360 was just bought by xbox fanboys

 Actually, he is no troll, he is posting his opinion, and let's face it. It has more substance then anything you've ever posted on this site.

I'm a huge Playstation fan, just check my posting history if you want. But even I can see that the 360 version
of GTA will sell better than the PS3 version. What reason do gamers have to pick the PS3 version? The contoller? If that was a good point, then I guess all of the other multiplatform IPs that sold better on
the PS2 than the Xbox should've sold better on the PS3 than on the 360. But they didn't, and that's a fact.

Give me one reason as to why it will sell better on the PS3 than the 360? You can't use controller, as I've
already refuted this point.

And judging by your post history, Mars, you are a troll and a fool.

360 started off at 499 canadian dollars for the premium or pro w/e

for the core it was 299 or 399 cad (w/e i cnt memba the price but it still got a price drop)

in the summer of 07 the price dropped by 100 bucks for the premium and the core stayed or dropped to 299. recently it just ggot a 50 dollar price drop.

ps3 started off at 699 and 599 cad for 20gb and 60gb.

last summer 20gb was dropped and the 60gb was 599 and the 80gb was 499 cad.

40gb was introduced and it started off at 399 cad.

if you dont count the change in sk's 360 had more price drops at least in canada.

No I didn't know that you talk about the fiscal year and I doubt that anyone else did (in the case you really ment that in the first place anyway).

By quality I ment games quality not hardware quality. I come from PC Games so my expectations are very high. 20-50 hours of wonderful single player leaves me cold, I want hardcore multiplayer.

I'm quite sure that the PS3 will surpass Xbox 360. However I have to applaud MS (even if I won't buy a 360) for the great results they had in the console market. You really can't expect more from them considering the fact that they are only at their second console.

About the PS3 surpassing the Wii well, thats quite hard. Maybe you think that it will sell a lot when the price drops, but think about this: when PS3 will cost 250$ the Wii will cost 100$ and people will buy it just to have the cool blue light near their PS3.

I hope you know that a closer competition gives customers higher quality and lower prices, so yeah, go Nintendo, go Sony, go Microsoft.
