Obviously people are making too much of a big deal over this, but the difference is larger than last gen.

But i guess I'm weird because despite having a PS3 and 360, I bought every game on PS3 because I liked the controller more and it was easier to have everything on one console and somehow I managed

I was the same.  I bought FFXIII on 360 even though I was PS360.  There are other factors for most users.

A game that is 900p v 1080p will be almost indiscernible despite the huge deal that will be made of it.  Which is waht the developer is saying too.

Resolution does affect things, especially on larger screens. I watched my brother play through AC IV before we got it patched, then I played later with the patch that upped the resolution and the difference was noticable

I've also noticed the difference since I've been going back to my PS3

The only way to really justify the price is to create unique kinect ambitious games

I still wait for a 1080p 60fps triple A next gen game.

Conventional thinking would lead one to think paying more would lead to better performance/resolution.
The gap is magnified by the price difference, while if it was the other way around it would be minimized.

PS1 was cheaper than Saturn...

Gamecube was cheaper than PS2...

Xbox 360 was cheaper than Wii for a while...

Anyhow, common sense leads people to believe Kinect is responsible for the price difference.

Not just in the Gaming Industry: Common Sense typically establishes a direct correlation between price and power(in tech/vehicles/etc.)/quality(everything else) when its not always the case.

While its(the gap) basically insignificant to the mainstream consumer, price is very visible. In contrast, any informed gamer will be aware of the difference, which basically eats at anyone stuck in the middle.

Yup, total role reversal. Been saying that for months.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I'm very glad more and more developers are finally not holding back.
