Hardly exotic compared to the Cell.

Actually GPGPU programming is very similar to working with the CELL, just scaled way up making it more dificult. The only real difference is that GPGPU is something that exists on multiple platforms meaning there will be a lot more people experianced with programming for it and figuring out effective ways of using it.

Yep, waiting until 2nd and 3rd generation SSM and Naughty Dog games. Gonna look crazy!

They will look fantastic, I have no doubt. I just don't believe for a second it'll be a "generational difference".

Well that was exaggerating a bit, but The Order and Uncharted 4 will be what Uncharted 1 was on PS3, now imagine the equivalent of UC2/3 on PS4. I cant wait to see better particle effects and it already looks so good in inFamous SS

Time will tell. Personally though, I don't expect PS3 level progression, more like original Xbox progression, Halo 1 to Halo 2.

Can't wait to see how Polygon will score this.

Hence, its more commonplace, more well known, less exotic.

The Xbox One is doomed.....again.

I find it so crazy to see so much positive stuff comparing which version has more pixels yet so little stuff about how this is the first Numbered Metal gear solid game to launch on the Xbox platform which isn't a HD rerelease 10 years later. There isn't a single fan of the Xbox who is sad about getting a 720p version or whatever it's running on the Xbox360 compared to what resolution we had for MGS/2/3/4 on the Microsoft platform... ya know... Nada X Nada Pixels.

Well I personally do not care...on PC I usually reduce to 720, 768 or 900p for a solid 60 FPS. But I seriously get a little pissed when emphasizing on no difference between 720p and 1080p takes place. That is unacceptable. To me it's making all the HD monitor manufacturers look like a silly joke.

GOOD HEAVENS!!!

The userbase on that site is AWFUL. I thought VGC & N4G were bad, those guys are seriously fucked in the head.

For those who don't like to click links. side by side comparison.

It's funny how I just went to the actual website and yet the X1 version doesn't look like the X1 version shown in this pic.

Indeed. Kojima is leading a smear campaign against his own and Xbox One game created. It's normal to pull the Japo blood. But is that your Twitter is an incredible edging. On the one hand Kojima boasts of its Ps4 and obviously did not have the patience for Xbox One in the same job. On the other hand Microsoft is also guilty of letting this man this disparaging comments and do not do their job well.

Many general shit is being done against Xo. Who was going to tell previous years where Sony has had to endure it did no good. But it seems that is soon forgotten legion smear and a brand like Xbox the only thing I did is to break the monopoly of Sony, this being of Ordago. A penalty scene.

Simple, accessible hardware will be maxed out faster than exotic, difficult hardware though. Hence PS4/Xbone won't see the enormous improvement PS3/360 did.

Most of the graphical improvements in 7th gen came from better/new programming methods, like texture streaming (that has nothing to do with "getting to know the architecture") . It's naive to think there won't be any similarly big steps within the 8th gen.

Especially this. Many people think graphical improvements are because dev learn to better use the hardware which is only part of the "problem". Of course dev get used better over time to a given hardware but also tools improve over time, APIs improve but also coding tricks and new efficient ways of tricking us making us believe something looks more realistic. This is in some way ongoing science and the web has several ppts of devs showing what they are doing with given hardware (I remember sth. from Dice about occlusion culling). All the parts together make games look better over time.
