Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft explains why it delayed Watch Dogs on Wii U

WiiU Version delayed ...

July 67 14.32%

August 29 6.20%

September 44 9.40%

October 17 3.63%

November 24 5.13%

December 6 1.28%

2015 21 4.49%

2016 10 2.14%

2090 249 53.21%

Total:467

It's probably not coming out anymore, this thing has been cancelled for a long time it seems, and this move will be sealing Ubisoft's fate with the Wii U.

One of the last companies that still supported the WiiU SERIOUSLY is leaving... WB has already left after the Batman fiasco, so what's left?

Activision and Sega on their own, although Sega is only releasing Sonic games, the rest of their games are not coming. The incentive of buying a WiiU outside of Nintendo games is so small, you are buying a console for their indie games.

This piece of news is tragic for Nintendo, the ship is sinking and now there's nothing else they can do. Not that releasing WD would have changed aything, but at least the Wii U owners would have had some sort of hope and happy moments. We are left with the Big Nintendo release every 3 months.

Enjoy and please understand.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Remember back when Rayman was supposed to come out in February, and it would have had the whole month all to itself? Wii U owners were hungry for a new game, and they could have had one to tide them over until March brought Monster Hunter and LEGO City? Remember how Rayman wound up coming right on top of Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, GTA V, Wind Waker HD, and Pokemon, and no one cared about Rayman anymore?

If Watch_Dogs winds up being an April release, Ubisoft may have missed their chance. Mario Kart comes out in May, and after that, who knows?

It's not gonna sell like Zombi U. That game was pushed fairly heavily for the Wii U launch window and even bundled with the system for a while.

Take a good hard look at those Assassin's Creed IV sales and start counting down from there.

I as mentioned... AC4 died accross the board. When from a 12m franchise to 7m. People largely disliked AC3 and sales of AC4 show that.

This is a new IP with a lot of hype... at least it had a lot. That will be revitalized by E3 when it is relaunched and Wii U has largely nothing else.

I think it will easily do 400k at a min and likely closer to 750k. This is assuming Wii U gets some boost from MK8 and other titles putting it well over 6m in total sales by then.

So, they want to focus on the versions that will make sense to them financially? At least they didn`t wait for the last minute like they did with Rayman.

This will obviously damage WD Wii U`s sales, but what are you going to do?
If this game was the Wii U release for a specific month, i wonder with what Nintendo is going to fill it!

I wouldn´t be surprised if this move from Ubisoft is the first step towards cancelling the Wii U version.

Hope springs eternal I guess.

More like the small number of Wii U fans who were willing to buy this on Wii U will be splintered now at least by half into those who will buy the PS3/360/X1/or PS4 version simply because it's available first. It's not like there's a ton to play on the Wii U anyway to justify sitting around even longer and playing nothing while Ubi Soft decides to release a Wii U version.

See: Need for Speed on Wii U.

The cold hard truth. Just like the original Wii get another 8th system or PC on the side, its the only way. In a game like this that seems more action and exploration heavy I don't get the point of waiting for gamepad features that'll probably just be cosmetic anyway.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Your expectations are really too high.

They would be happy if the game can reach 100k on Wii U.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Absolutely no chance of happening unless they bundle it like crazy
