Forums - Gaming - This hurts to say, but I think that mobile does shooters better than consoles.

Move is great for shooters too, a pity it was pretty un-utilised except for the first party shooters. In fact I'd say any FPS on PS or Wii that doesn't offer the motion control option is committing a crime against gaming.

ok, that's what you think...

I have used Wii Remote Plus. That was actually my preferred for all console FPS. Touch screen/pad is better though, no contest. Far more precise. If you had bad experiences, you probably didn't adjust the settings, but I feel like a sniper on that thing. Too bad it feels like shit otherwise. We need that on a controller.

Honestly, console gamers look and play like idiots trying to grid target like they have to currently on their analog controllers.

Am I the only one that likes FPS controls on a regular gamepad?

touch controls on FPS were great when Nintendo did it 10 years ago with Metroid Hunters

That means nothing if they never followed it up. Even Prime Hunters feels uncomfortable because of the awkward arangement you must put your hands in. The touch controls should have been incorparated into the pro controller. They are far superior.

Touch screen controls annoy me to no end, especially if it's like a D-Pad or Analogue stick that  are on the screen like this:

Your fingers eventually move off the "control area" because there is no surface feedback, it's frustrating playing Nintendo 64 games on my tablet because of it. :P

I've tried playing racing games, FPS's, RPG's, TPS's on the iPhone and they are not nearly as fun or accurate or anywhere near the level of a console game in any way, shape or form. iPhone games are ten minute pleasers when waiting in line or on the bus. I'd take keyboard or touch-pad, analog over touch-pad, mouse over touch-pad...you get the point.

You wanted to say it's easier to target.

Seriously, it feels that good. Now I'm actually considering getting a Steam Machine just for the controller. (and 3rd party games) It's like the perfect blend of a controller and the superior touch pad controls. I actually get what they were thinking now!

I really do hope that the new Steam controller sets a new standard.

The controller is getting a redesign, they might even return to analog for all we know.

Perhaps you refer to the aiming mechanism by which moving a finger on the touch screen, anywhere, not in the simulated thumb stick area, will move the view and crosshair an proportional amount in the world, thus approximating mouse aiming (where you move the mouse and the same thing happens in the game world, the view and crosshair is moved an proportional amount). In that case yes, it might feel precise, except your fingers are on the screen you know.
If you refer to the simulated thumb sticks, or whatever one calls those, the I don't see how.
