I still think XB1 wont ever truly start competing until it is noticeably cheaper than PS4

or if Sony started similar exclusives-drought as the 360 had at the mid/end of its lifespan and MS keeps new exclusives coming year after year.

True exclusives ofcourse, I see Titanfall losing some of its thunder for being also a PC game, multisystem players like me just don't have much need for Xbox when lot of its games also come for my PC.

By a lot do you mean 1? Titanfall is the only Xbox console exclusive game coming to PC.

You can  guarantee no more shared exclusives in the future? =)

I believe the difference is that MS is not taking a huge loss like Sony.  If anything MS is probably breaking even or with game sells, XBL and gamepads and other hardware probably is making a profit.

Sony is taking a loss on the PS4, but it's a tiny one. One is either taking an almost non existent loss or breaking even depend on where you look. They're both supposedly making profit after purchase of LIVE/PS+ and a game.

The reason the One costs more to produce despite weaker hardware is due to the Kinect and the fact its wafer is nearly one and a half times the size of the PS4's due to the ESRAM gamble not paying off while Sony's DDR5 gamble did.

RE your sig:

Thats more like ps3/360.

But since you got it up, I dare you to keep it until the end of the generation. I hope you wont remove it if you see no sign of XB1 making a comeback.

Well if the games keep coming, this will be the case.

I doubt it in the long run. Sony have always had shitty launch line ups and pretty mediocre first years (though both MS and Sony have pretty mediocre lineups this year, from whats been announced anyway), but no one has ever been able to challenge Sony is long term home console support. It's one of the primary factors that lead to the PS3 managing to catch up and pass the 360.

I think its more than a fear. Its fact.

The X1 is beeing outsold 2 to 1 currently and the PS4 is about to launch in Japan, where X1 has no foothold.
This battle is decided. The only way Microsoft stands a chance is if they unbundle the Kinect and take big losses. Unless the X1 is priced under the PS4, they have no chance in europe.

PS3 won every region in the world aside from North America despite a serious price and PR advantage for the first half of the gen (and even now they're still at a slight price disadvantage for entry model, but it's not that severe thankfully).

And on top of that, PS3 is only entering it's 8th year while the 360 is entering it's 9th. PS3 is tracking 6 million ahead.

PS2 tracked 120 million ahead of Xbox. Sony lost 50% of their marketshare to MS last gen. PS3 was an absolute failure.

Hardly. It wasn't a colossus success like the PS2, but it was non the less still a success in sales. Would you say the X1's launch has been a failure since it lost it's US market share advantage? Of course not, it still sold great regardless to the competition.

It could be argued the 360 was actually a failure for not being able to beat the PS3 and Wii despite the year head start, fuck ups from competition and billions in marketing. I don't personally agree with that kind of argument, but it follows the same line of thought as what you said.

I would agree the PS3 was a failure in it's loss of market share, and that was Sony's own fault, but it wasn't an "absolute failure" as a product.

I was only doing a comparison to the PS3 launch and the X1.  They are different in that MS is not taking a loss so there is no pressure to cut out features to bring the console to a price point people will want.  The X1 is selling and as long as MS produce games gamers want it will probably continue to keep selling.

On this board people only care about how many units sold but there is so much more to the business process then marketshare.  Do anyone think Sony could ever do another PS3 again where you have loses for a good part of the time the unit is on the market.

Now this is slightly more than 100dollars off, Gamestop started doing this last week, for those not familiar with the Euro and its value $1 right now will buy you €0.74, the X1 costs €500 euros if you buy it without this offer btw here.

It's a valid "fear," what would you rather do, have Microsoft sit back and do nothing while they fall behind in market share?

The war is over already...

In the actual situation even if MS cut the price of Xbone to $350 it still will sell less than PS4.
