Forums - Gaming - Take-Two shoots down idea of developing any Wii U games

I think if Nintendo wants to have success with older gamers and have the third parties that make those types of games take them seriously, they themselves have to make a flagship IP for that audience and prove that it can sell in the millions.

If Nintendo still had say James Bond or Perfect Dark and were selling 3-4 million copies of that every time out, they would have third parties like those that make games like Grand Theft Auto and BioShock wanting in on their platform.

All the pubs that make mascot/kids-centric games support the Wii U with things like Rayman and Sonic and LEGO and Skylanders because they see the sales Mario and Pokemon generate and that want in on the gravy train.

Demographics, Nintendo. It's not a conspiracy, it's just common sense.

I tend to agree with them with one small modification. I don't think Rockstar has the consumer base on the Wii U to warrant a release (if warrant means guaranteed sales success) but that's never, ever going to change unless they actually take a chance and release something.

Even if the Wii U was selling much better than it is I don't think it would significantly improve Rockstar's chances with a first-off release on the system given how long they have ignored Nintendo users. Most of those users are not likely to greet a Rockstar release with rabid enthusiasm because either they have lost interest while waiting or have gotten their fix elsewhere.

Exactly why his response is stupid. Volume of consoles is nothing to do with it but demographics is. No one is denying that.

They're right - they go where the install base is. Which is why every Gen 7 game was put on the Wii...

Oh, right. They only put their crap on the Wii. All their big franchises, like Bioshock, GTA, etc... all of them were put on the systems that, at the time, were selling worse than the Wii. Meanwhile, they don't seem to have a problem with putting Borderlands 2 on Vita, despite the Vita performing roughly as well as the Wii U.

I've come to realise that a lot of the publishers are hypocrites and scoundrels to begin with - if they aren't going to treat the customer with respect, then I don't see why I should respect them.

If Wii was actually capable of running last gen GTA or Bioshock don't you think that you might have gotten the ports?

Borderlands 2 is being brought to VITA by SONY, not 2K. So I don't really understand your point?

Of course... those darn publishers...

this isn't even news. When was the last time they developed on a Nintendo console other then some shovelware table tennis game on Wii.

Also his comment is kind of stupid in general ""If they're buying hardware, we'll be there with software:" as Wii was selling like hot cakes so where was the software.

Just admit the truth we known it for years.

Im interested, what is the truth? That evil 3rd party companies conspire against Nintendo because they are jelous ?

About your argument, other than a few Ubisoft and SEGA games, 3rd party sales on Wii were horrid, because of the casual consumer base that wasnt interested in the games like Bioshock and Borderlands

I don't have an issue with this apart form NBA2K. No excuse there at all.

where were they when wii had the most consumers

Eh. WiiU owners are happy enough with Lego City Undercover.  Sales reflect this.

Remember when Gamecube was a really powerful console that sold 22 million consoles and still didn't get GTA, while XBOX at 25 million did?

They've burned Nintendo fans, and they're too weak to try and put in a risky effort, they couldn't win on the Wii U no matter the install base or not.

They've burned bridges by neglecting the Nintendo audience, if the Wii U does pull a come back like the PS3 did, their games won't sell on the Wii U.
