^Truth.  GTA V is an amazing game that should get 9's and up.  BUT it is not the second coming of christ, and there were some minor problems that most reviewers overlooked due to hype (Skyrim *Cough*).

For me it deserves the hype because it change the games for the future,  I am sure some games will pick up the character switching thing and I would love it if they put it in different games aswell.  The idea that they do this kind of thing in Skyrim/Dark souls would have been nice... 

I can't really speak for San Andreas (which I've never played) or GTA V (which I've only briefly played), but I do find GTA III, Vice City, and GTA IV to be extremely overrated. The missions were nothing special (unlike Red Dead Redemption), the characters were lame (once again, unlike RDR), and the novelty of killing hookers and stealing cars quickly wore off for me.

Yeah, and its kinda the same concept in every game. But I suppose people like that a lot, and that's why it sells so much.

I think it's an awesome game. But I don't think it deserves all of the 10's. I think it's a definite 9.5. It's an amazing game, but it has to many issues to be a 10.

You're doing something wrong if you take this game seriously. Almost everything GTAV does is satirical. If you thought that game was serious, you've missed the ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME. 

Insert popular game series is over rated.
Outcome: lots of fans of the game come in and defend their fave game series.

There is usually a 2 to 5+ year gap between numbered GTA games that is GTA(97') to GTA 2(99') to GTA 3(01') to GTA 4(08') to GTA 5(13'). 2 gap between GTA 1 to 3. 7 year gap between GTA 3 to GTA 4. 5 year gap between GTA 4 to GTA 5. Even GTA expansion packs have delivered upon offering open world action game players lots of game play hours.

A better argument could be made that Final Fantasy series is over rated. Final Fantasy series over the last 10 years has been in free fall in regards to sales, the quality and standards of the game series has fallen. Final Fantasy developers Square-Enix have even resorted to releasing the old games from 15 to 20+ years on portables and via digital downloads on console networks.

I have ever completed a GTA game. Most people i know have not. The fun i get is just putting in all the cheats ad getting a huge police chase and killing anyone i come across.

Its mindless fun. It deserves the sales it getsbut no the critical acclaim. But thats is subjective and my older brother would probably argue that GTA5 is the best game on PS3. He also hates MGS games. Makes me want to slap him sometimes.

Probably yes, like a lot of other games. But it's fun so who cares?, at least meets its purpose :P

Having played Sleeping Dogs and the first two Yakuza games... those games lack something called fun.

They aren't bad games, they simply aren't as fun as GTA.
