Is Grand Theft Auto overrated or does it deserve those high sales charts?

Yes it's overrated,but GTA V was awesome.

Deverves all the attention it got and still gets

"Overrated" discussions kind of bug me. It's usually people acting as though their own opinions are absolutes. Personally, I don't care much for GTA; the game-play doesn't excite me, I dislike most of the characters, and much of what you can do quickly begins to bore me. I do, however, recognize it as something a LOT of other people enjoy and a quality product by the developers. It's not something I like very much but I have no reason to call it overrated.

Is it overrated? Sure, in some ways. Does it deserve the sales it gets? Absolutely. Rockstar put more time and effort into each installment of GTA than most developers put into an entire series.

I'm not personally a big GTA fan (still haven't gotten 5 :p), but anyone you tries to deny the mind boggling scale and detail of those games i kidding themselves.

Over rated? Yes.

Does GTA V deserve the praise more than GTA IV? Very much yes.

Sigh the overrated word is so over used and abused just like hater and fanboy, imo it is but for others it's better then sex, / thread.

in my opinion it is overrated, not because it isn't a good game, it is.

It is overrated because there are too many flaws for me to accept the high ratings it gets.

It's a solid 8/10 game, but nothing more in my opinion.

my biggest gripe with GTA is that it is too serious, which is why i enjoy Saints Row a bit more nowadays.

Yes, it is. The newer ones are very good, but there are other games that are just as good or better. Other than San Andreas, which is decent, the older ones for PSP, PS2, and PSX are very overrated and aren't very good.
