I'm curious if DKC:TF will help sell Wii U. If I can raise money i'm getting it day one. P.S. i'm not talking about saving the Wii U just help sales push a little. Honestly i would be very surprised if Wii U sales stay the same after it's release. So do you think so? I think it will help quite a bit.

Ultimately, I say no. I do think it'll have legs and be a profitable venture, especially if it turns out similar in quality to the last DK game on the Wii. It just doesn't seem to have the same level of anticipation going for it. Frankly, I kind blame it on the name. Tropical Freeze sounds a bit underwhelming as a sequel title. It sounds like something you'd name a DLC with. Maro Kart and Super Smash Bros will be the big hardware movers in my opinion.

If Cranky Kong havn't upped the hype for this game from VGX, Idk what will!!!!

To be fair, for better or for worse, this was the most talked about subject from vgx on virtually every site... Some may even say... It made everyone Cranky! YEAAAA

My take on it is - a HUGE percentage of people who already own a Wii U (like me) will get it. Only a few people who don't have one will get it for this when it comes out. And when games like Mario Kart and Smash come out, a lot of the people who buy Wii U's then will get this. I think this will be a game where a lot of people who buy a Wii U from here on out will get this game, but I don't think a significant number of people who do not currently own a Wii U will buy one to play this title. I think it is a title that a significant amount of future Wii U owners will buy retroactively.

But as a system seller, I say it will not hugely appeal to people who didn't already buy a Wii U for NSMB U.

It will cause sales to spike for 2-3 weeks then return to normal. Like most games, its not a system seller on its own but it will help build up the Wii U library which in the long term is what sells consoles.

Well, everything helps somewhat. Unfortunately, I doubt it will help a lot. Who is interested in Donkey Kong that wasn't interested in Mario? It's a platformer on a system that needs everything except more platformers. The software will sell pretty well--what else will Wii U owners buy--but the impact on systems sold won't be anything to write home about.

Any quality game release will help the Wii U at this point. It helps diversify the library and makes the device a more attractive option to potential consumers.

I don't see it pushing huge numbers initially though, but it will have long-term sales.

Yeah, every good game will help. No one game can cause undesirable hardware to fly off shelves, but a constant stream of good games like Tropical Freeze would almost force people to buy it.

It will obviously help it. The question is how much will it boost sales.

at least it wont hurt...
