Thank you. That anybody is arguing this point I find shocking.

If you know so little about the SNES and DKC that you think it didn't revitalize the SNES completely, then don't post about it. If you wonder about it, look it up. Simple as that. The time spent hauranging people over 'you're just speculating' about DKC could have been spent typing 'DKC' into Google and finding out the facts.

I cant post links in a quote from my phone but this says DKC sold 6 million in its first holiday

ok, now thats data I can concede too. I missed that part. Was it bundled? doesnt matter really.

Either way, Feb is going to be interesting. This will be the first mainline DKC game NOT released in holidays at all. This is the true test of system seller IMHO

No it wasn't bundled. It was a must have game. They sent a VHS tape to all subscribers of Nintendo Power. I was 10 the year that DKC came out and I had never seen a game hyped so much - not even SMB 3. It was incredible. And the game backed up that hype in every way imaginable.

I read earlier that it wasnt bundled until sometime in 1995, I cant find that link.

ok, that explains the explosive early sales. thats whats i was really getting at initially. bundles, being released in the holidays are going to boost a console and the game. With that being said Tropical Freeze missed the holidays and will not be bundled at least yet. So now the TRUE test to see if that game can move significant hardware begins.

Bundled a year after it came out. You're acting like it was bundled from day one. It was a system seller so they bundled it for the next holidays.

It can only help. Hell even I'm considering purchasing a U for this game.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Depending on your definition of "help"...

When I heard Tropical Freeze's initial November release I started saving up for the Wii U. It's my first must-have title that's coming out.

Ultimately, I say no. I do think it'll have legs and be a profitable venture, especially if it turns out similar in quality to the last DK game on the Wii. It just doesn't seem to have the same level of anticipation going for it. Frankly, I kind blame it on the name. Tropical Freeze sounds a bit underwhelming as a sequel title. It sounds like something you'd name a DLC with. Maro Kart and Super Smash Bros will be the big hardware movers in my opinion.

I agree with the name. The same goes for alot of Nintendo IP imo. The last DKC game should have been "Donkey Kong Country 4 (insert phrase)". This game should be "Donkey Kong Country 5 (insert phrase)". We still haven't gotten a Super Mario Bros. 4 or New Super Mario bros. 2.

Thankfully, Pikmin got it right.
