Haha, RT pushing the idea that even the majority of Tatars voted to join Russia. Propaganda is only good if it's remotely believable, doods.

I don't know what Tartars have voted. But it is not completely unbelievable. You have to look, what they have to expect from the new government in Kiew. The nazi-groups are not only anti-russian, they are against all ukrainians with other languages or heritages. So some might feel better with russia, especially with Aksjonow making a lot of statements, that he want to bring more autonomity to the tartars. Stalin is long dead, not all live in the past. And these who are against crimea joining russia might have been absent to the voting anyways.

It is possible that many people who don't want to join Russia boycotted this obvious sham, but RT's claim is that 40% of eligible Tatars voted and a majority of those voted for Russia. Which, yes, is completely unbelievable.

Guy Verhofstadt: "Valid and legal referenda are not held at the point of a gun."

No need for the EU to use a gun when they don't acknowledge a "no" vote, anyway.

Yes, I would expect a high percentage of boycott from tartars. Might be exaggerations from RT here.

Of coruse they did, why they would not? Unless you believe western propaganda and some of them who are against joining Russia make any difference statistically.

Nope, it's you who have problems accepting the truth.

Of course if you never realized how extremely pro-Russian Crimea is, you'd think that 93% is too high. Though I'm pretty sure recent events in Ukraine helped to increase the percentage of suppoters.

Given the choice of the new ukrainian government and Russia it isn't hard to believe at all. My fiance is from Rostov-on-don and has lived on an off in Crimea as well. Crimea is very pro Russian and has been for a long time, yes some tatars probably still hold a grudge but most find the new government in Kiev far more scary than Russia, western media has been highly biased against Russia in this (though I don't think for a second Putin's motives are pure, he is the lesser of 2 evils for the people there).

There's flow of information on this episode in UNSC, but none of it actually quotes what  she actually said.

I don't know what Churkin's assistants are laughing at, but so much of diplomatic fail and butturt is indeed funny regardless of what she said.
