I think that the current Ukrainian government is a joke, and the western coverage of the matter has been very obscene. They took power through brute force, and will eventually either run down the country into the ground or attempt to create something akin to nazi germany.

Yeah, it's just so depressing, both the events in themselves, and the complicity to it all by Western mainstream media.
From the beginning they have just ignored basic facts of the situation, like the Constitutional process for replacing a President, and laughed off how the coup forces casually tore up the EU-brokered agreement because brownshirts felt like it.  With NATO playing "see no evil, hear no evil" re disturbing fascist developments, obviously people will protect themselves from this coup... To which NATO responds by basically erasing the free-will agency of any Ukrainians who don't go along with the coup regime, demonizing the same sort of actions that was celebrated when done by the Maidan factions, pretending any resistance can only be Russian "separatist" agents... Ignoring that they want not separatism but federalization to protect their language, economy, and good relations with Russia.  Rather than seriously engage with Russia and many Ukrainians' concerns about role of fascists in coup, that claim is practically MOCKED, never mind that in 2012, the EU Parliament themself previously warned against cooperation with Svoboda specifically: (#8)

The European Parliament ... 8. Is concerned about the rising nationalistic sentiment in Ukraine, expressed in support for the Svoboda Party, which, as a result, is one of the two new parties to enter the Verkhovna Rada; recalls that racist, anti-Semitic and xenophobic views go against the EU's fundamental values and principles and therefore appeals to pro-democratic parties in the Verkhovna Rada not to associate with, endorse or form coalitions with this party;

For all the harping about Russian actions, NATO ignored the actual Russian diplomacy for a whole week after coup, refusing to address the legal situation which led to legal President Yanukovych asking Russia to protect UKR citizens vs. illegal coup forces.  That on top of the EU inexplicably refusing the UKR government's request for 3-way talks with Russia to find an economic-political arrangement that was beneficial to all parties, but most importantly, most beneficial to Ukraine.  Because the EU (and US and NATO) never act in their self interests, they just pursue what is good for all of humanity.

And the farce of the whole events is that assuming Russia just rolls over and lets the coup liquidate any resistance to them...
Ukraine is still fucked and faces what is basically another collapse of the Soviet Union in terms of human effect.
Besides the ideological fascists, you are left with the oligarchs who were behind Ukraine's dysfunction (across all administrations),
Tymoshenko, who went from signing gas deal with Russia (the same one now treated as a Russian act of war by NATO media),
to ranting about killing Moskals, to seeming to promote a more moderate stance than Turchynev, to now starting her own militia...

I really hope it can develop from here with the least bloodshed possible...
Any negotiations seem hard to establish, what with the junta parties (and the EU) having already proven their unreliability and malevolence,
i.e. tearing up Feb 21 agreement, gross legal irregularities, mob violence, language laws, arrests of political dissidents, and now usage of army.
I don't see how the US or EU can play a role in dialogue at this point given their role in events so far,
perhaps more neutral EU countries (Finland, Germany/Austria, Bulgaria?) could play a mediator role,
but direct participation of SE Ukrainian popular forces seems a sure prerequisite... And given the mob atmosphere of junta Ukraine,
they will need direct, autonomous representation in crafting a solution, not subservient to junta-organized/structured elections.

Or it could just go to shit and be lose/lose for just about everybody... I guess not so much for the US which ends up looking more powerful.
Beyond Ukraine, imagine what future violent political conflict might have been avoided with EU or US mediation,
but now won't be, because everybody knows the EU or US will just break any agreement and grab total power the moment it's convenient.
