Hmm, again, I see german media is backing away from the extremely one-sided propaganda of the last week. For the first time, they had a real feature about the Nazis (Swoboda and right sector) and their involvement in the maidan. In the last weeks we never heard about the right sector and swoboda was called nationalists (what timoshenkos party already is) and unimportant. Now they all are explained fully and it is explained how they made the maidan violent. I don't understand thisa change. Is it seen as unimportant now, that all attention is focused on crimea?

Predictably escalation has started to increase in South-Eastern Ukraine in last coupld of days, dead bodies pile up (afair 1 in Kharkov, 1 heavily injured, same in Donetsk), radicals shooting at people on the streets, local authorities aren't helping if not sabotaging.

Nevertheless hope for the light in the end of the tunnel. The situation is better than it might have been, and likely it might have been Yugoslavian scenario, that would have ended with some Racak incident > "internation forces" interference -- and then a lot of things might have happened. At least that's what I believe was planned for Ukraine.

damn, and here I thought things was slowing down.

Looks like the referendum is going on fair not that we are going to respect what the people vote in Crimea though.

It's an hour before referendum officially ends, about 80% of registered voters have expressed their opinion.

A bit premature, but still... "Suck it, Samantha" ;)

UPD : Exit polls -- 93% voted for option #1.

93% seems extremely high, especially with that high percentage of voters that voted. Probably the result of the one-sided advertisement of russians and the actioons in kiew that were not liked in southern and eastern Ukraine.

And with the referendum over, hopefully the biggest reason for escalating further is now off the table. I hope that means now a war is a non-option.
