And again Jacob Kedmi is speaking (see first vdeio above), Russian only:
Basically he's explaining why Russia needs Ukraine in one piece, synposis:
- Military intervention is a preemptive move to take the initative and do not allow unfortunate string of events that might lead to enemy military bases near the borders, that would put entire regions in grave danger.
- Military intervention outside smaller scale operations in mainland Ukraine is unlikely, support to Southern and Eastern Ukraine will be accomplished by other means other than military, the final goal is to consolidate the region and replace radicals in government with new political power, be it legitimately or not.
- No sanctions or any kind of treaty with the West would work as the West is not trust-worthy (...citing precedents...), while this is red line situation as it perceived from Moscow. To ilustrate Russian perception of the situation compares it with Cuban crisis, Putin with Kennedy, mentions what if scenario and asking rhetorical question what would Israel (he's Israeli) do in similar position etc.
- Mentions Egypt situation and how Mursi was overthrown as an example of double standards.
- Discussing the fate of Jewish population in Ukraine (250 000 of them as they say).
