RT is not mainstream from the position of American media and practically everyone from "globalized" world, yes. Even Al-Jazeera on many occasions is closer to position of MSM as it originates in Qatar, hence its position on Arab spring. Though it's not like CNN and Fox and ARD positions will match in 100% of cases, depends on the topic.
The defining characteristic of RT is it being an ideal pro-Patriot (they way I define them at least) media, so pro-Patriot, in fact, that certain civil rights organizations, that exist solely due this kind of public RT is aiming at, got worried :D The sad story is, RT is not mainsteam even from position of Russian media, though should have been in ideal world.
