No you're absolutely right. Mainstream isn't buying Wii U. You have to be pretty hardcore to be an adopter of the Wii U.

Mainstream = fad

LOL. Must be a slow news day.

Anyway, I thought there were only hardcore gamers, not consoles. I guess I stand corrected.

Pretty much. The idea that some games/systems are "hardcore" is rather silly, though I don't imagine the OP was taking the idea all that seriously.

I'm serious.

Is that so? Well, if that's you seriously serious, I'd hate to see you when you're seriously kidding...

Maybe he is of german descent and his name is ERNST. (which is a normal german name but also is the german word for SERIOUS)

But tbh I have to agree.  Mario 3D World is more a hardcore game  than  COD or any other mainstream game is because well they are mainstream not hardcore. Stuff like Angry Birds for example is more hardcore than COD (because go back 20 years make it want a quarter for everytime you "fail" and then you have the original meaning of hardcore. Mario and Angry Birds etc. are hardcore games they just lost the INSERT COIN aspect.)

Could be, I once took out an ASUS motherboard and tried to destroy it, ran it over wit my car, tried to break it with my hands and finally we set it on fire. My PC was a really hard core device, perhaps the Wii U is too.

For a second there I thought this was a toastboy thread.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Its sales proves it. A hardcore console doesn't put astronomical numbers because good numbers are exclusive of fads, like the Wii.

Remember, this race is a marathon, not a sprint.

Except nintendo are known for sprints, not marathons, and if they havent started the sprint well, then theres no hope because its certainly not going to last as long as sony consoles last.

To be clear, games and systems are not, and cannot be, hardcore. Hardcore, by definition, applies to people, or as a synonym for "extreme."

So to say a system or game is "the most hardcore" is rather silly, on par with saying that lilly is "the most hardcore" plant, or pheasant is "the most hardcore" meat.

Unless the usage here is an even more nebulous "games/systems that appeal exclusively to the hardcore," which is equally silly.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Only the Wii, which is refered as a fad.

What is a "hardcore" gamer, by the way?

If you mean that "hardcore" are those gamers who only care about shooting/gore, photorealistic graphics and M-content, then no, the WiiU is not for the hardcore ( I personally think that those gamers should be called dumbcore and not hardcore )

now, if you agree with me and consider "hardcore" gamers those who actually like to find different gaming experiences, who give more value to creativity and gameplay rather than visuals and who love games that offer a challenge, then definetely the WiiU has a lot to offer to that audience

you're my new internet friend.

Not sure if serious? Harcore gamer simply means a person that plays videogames on a consistend basis, like every week or even every day, and therefore spends a considerable amount of money in buying games. While "casuals" only play once in a while and only buy games once in a while, like the crowds that buy madden, fifa and little else, and the wii for it's motion controls fad etc.
