Now you're doing is downplaying the hype it did have. That's a far cry from, "the gme didnt have hype."

Frankly, I'm not sure why you people are even bothering me. I don't think any of us really give a shit about Knack. I'm simply surprised Knack didn't do better. Sometimes being a hyped launch title can make a game a hit.

I didnt know correcting the bullshit being spewed from you and calling them out as the lies they are was dowbplaying. No, what I'm doing is fact checking.

The only thing you're correcting is yourself. You've already admitted the game had hype. Now you're just downplaying the hype. This is fact.

The reason why Knack was doing so well is simple...
If your going to fork out 400.00 on a new system you want games to play on it.

I bought an xbox one and i purchased games i would not normally have purchased so i could have something to play on it because of all the money i spent on the system.

Launch games generally tend to have a higher attach rate at or soon after launch...likely for that exact reason.
Watch the attach rates of most games to fall on both the xbox one and the ps4 even if overall sale numbers increase (because the number of systems increases).

Mario games in general have better attach rates and part of that is Nintendo just knows how to make games you want to play (being a franchise people know obviously also helps). I tend to sell games from most publishers once they are beaten...except Nintendo's....and the reason for that is i still get play time out of them after beating them. They just have more replay value.

That's kind of why I love launch titles.  There are a lot of titles I bought for system launches that I would never have played otherwise and wound up really enjoying.  Zombi U, Pilot Wings, Rayman Raving Rabids, and so on.

You said the game had no hype, then you downplayed the hype it did have. There was clearly hype, many people are aware of Knack thanks to Sony pushing it.

The only thing I'm spewing is facts.

Seriously, who is ignorant enough to suggest putting a demo on a demo unit is considered hype? Holy fuck, must mean that Contrast had hype too

Putting Knack on every demo unit is pushing the game. It helps make people aware of that game.

Once again, it was just one of several examples. Its silly for you to just harp on that.

You were talking about *people* being hyped. Dont try and twist it matey...You know the difference from trying to create hype and people being hyped, so dont be silly now eh.

I didnt read the rest of your post, because just like your signature, I know which camp you are sitting in, and why this dictates how you post.

Nope, go read my first post in this thread. I simply said the game had hype and that's accurate. I never said people were hyped for it. Furthermore, if you search "hype" in this thread you'll see I'm not the only person with that thought.

You misinterpreted the way I used the word “hype.” No need to argue about it.

I've re-read your post and to be honest, it's badly written english. I don't know where you are from, so perhaps English isnt your first language?

But if you had said Sony tried to generate hype, the context of your message would have been clear, but your sentence was talking about users were given few options and the game was hyped, so the context of your sentence is that users hyped it.

Sony will of course try to "promote" their game to generate hype. But regardless the hype generated by Sony (which is reflected by the lack of hype of the PS4 users) suggests there was no or little hype.

I also find it funny that in your own "flame bait" signature you have a metacritic picture of Knack and it's score... so I think we can say reviewers on the whole were not hyped by the Sony hype. So either way there was very little hype...lol.

Ultimately knack will probably sell a million copies, which isnt bad for a game derided by reviewers and some of the community, while other games will sell much better, not really big news, especially when the console it's being sold on has already overtaken the competitors console sales in a matter of days in some markets and will overtake it lifetime this year.

Knack is doing is doing pretty bad given there are few options on the PS4 and that game was hyped.

I found it funny people were boasting about Knack in the UK. It accounted for a small number of sales and we all knew Mario was going to outperform it down the road.

When was knack hyped? Most people thought it looked boring from the start. Even Cerny just used it to show how easy the PS4 was to develop for. He called it a second purchase. Don't make things up.

Defensive much?

I mean hype as in promotion. Its a game Sony made sure fans were aware of and it was their game of choice on Jimmy Fallon.

Knack showed PS4 was easy to develop for? They should have worked harder.

Not defensive in the slightest. I'm done with this argument since I was able to make my point with one post. Rather than changing my point defensively.

Knack doesn't need a second game. Cerny needs to learn that linear 3D platforming died the day Super Mario 64 came out.

... Tell that to Mario 3D World...

LMAO!  So true.  Still, there's nothing wrong with that kind of gameplay.  Hell, that's what GOW is, only a much larger emphasis on combat.

Most hack n slash games have linear 3D realms, so it makes sense. I was talking about platformers post Mario 64. Cerny was making badass crash games on the original Playstation, but once everyone played Super Mario 64 thats all she wrote.

So does anyone have any idea of the Wii U's installed userbase..? Had a look at the front page here and it looks to be wildly undertracked at 4.7m. There's no way that it only sold 0.8m worldwide during the Christmas shopping season, it had sold 3.9m before the shopping season started according to Nintendo.

Well its at 5million on the page so I guess they heard you :).

Lol... even in UK right now Mario 3d World outsold Knack. So what's the point of all that fuzz by Sony fanboys? None

Because they have to reinforce their weak self-esteem about thier favorite piece of plastic. That's why we see theads like the one Pezus made about Knack outselling Mario in the U.K. and made other ones from the Sony fathful. They when eventually Mario outsells Knack even in the U.K. and someone makes a thread about that they get all self-rigthious and hollier than thou on the Nintendo fans for pointing it out when they did the same thing before with the Knack thread. Its like the Sonic cycle, but with Sony fans on this site.
