Forums - Sales - Where are the announcments from MS and Sony??

My Rant about XBOX ONE is more difficult. You all know their problems and I only see a strong future for MS, when they continuously put out content which many people want. Though I'm surprised of their strong sales Numbers so far.
Coz "next gen" is going to be Sony's gen. "This For the Gamers " and we care about our customers blah, blah was a smart move (lie) by Sony to draft from a unhappy XBOX Community.
I somehow think sales numbers this (next) gen will develop over a long run and every company has the option to make smart moves on the stretch. First MS I going to drop the price in 2014

I don´t believe that for a second unless they announce it shortly. They announced the millionmark and when they passed 2 million, it would only benefit them to also announce reaching 3 million. The financials aren´t far off but considering their need for publicity, they would announce it.

No. They announced US launch and EU launch numbers... not million marks.

They're on holiday :P

Well, actually, no: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/03/ps4-global-sales-update/

They announced when world-wide sales had reached 2,1 million, meaning they could announce them passing the 2 million-mark. The adding up of individual regions were made by the gaming sites themselves, not sony.

They announced numbers for US launch and EU/WW launch... two times for these specific events... that's because they announced over 2.1 million and not only over 2 million.

From your link...

"In what is shaping up to be a historic year for gamers, I’m delighted to share an important new milestone with you. PS4’s North American debut on November 15th was PlayStation’s largest ever, with more than one million gamers picking up a PS4 in just 24 hours. Now, with PS4’s global launch expanding to a total of 32 countries worldwide, including Europe and Latin America, I’m proud to announce that more than 2.1 million PS4s have been sold."

It is not milestones reached... it is launch numbers.

If they sold 2.5 or 1.8 million at WW launch then they will post these numbers instead 2.1 million.

i agree with the op.

i guess manufacturers like to be stingy with sales figures. they dont like the opponent getting data maybe.

maybe they will announce some stuff around the new year though, seems a good stopping point.

You did notice the word "milestone" in their press release, right? Btw, didn´t they have Asia left to release in this december so by your logic, another number would be released when that launch had passed? I have no idea what date that is, and I don´t seem to find it online.

No, I have the feeling the launches, either have died of quite a bit for both Sony and MS, and that is why we are not seeing numbers or, they are playing the waiting game, just looking for when their competitor releases its figures.

Yeap... they released in Asia and Mid-East in 12nd Dec and 17th Dec but the tracking services there are not like EU and US tracking services... you will need to wait a bit more.

PS4 increased near the Christmas.

very very few consoles are sold in asia and mid-east.

consoles are banned in china except on one small suburb (industrial zone) and only if manufactured there (none are)

Source? Because the some retails in Asia/Mid-East said "record sales in the history"... some even said "more sales at launch than PS3 in the first year".

And consoles are not banned in China anymore both will be released next-year  in this market.
