Forums - Gaming - Update: GT6(81)>Forza 5(80) GT definite racing game according to metacritic

I'm using metacritic and my own personal experience the three games I metioned are miles better and in the case of Burnout and Horzion more fun then both GT5 and GT6.  Forza 4 is highest rated sim racer.  Burnout Paradise is the highest rated open world arcade racer and Horzion is the highest rated spin off racer.  Also Wipeout shouldn't be in the equation its not a real racing game since it doen't feature cars the only game you can compare it to is the F-Zero games and the highest rated game in that genre is F-Zero GX on the Gamecube which is a 89/100 on metascore.

Wow. A whole point. What an achievement on GT6's part.

GT5 is the real king of racers...GT6 and every Forza game pales in comparison to it..that 11 million sales is self explanatory.

The real king of racers is Mario Kart Wii then.  No other racing games will even come close to selling 34 million copies.

Ok so if we're not considering reviews then Chris Hu is right, Mario Kart is the real king of racers.

Truth.  Mario Kart Wii is the Sales King Of All Racers.  Which game(s) are the King of racing simulations (Mario Kart is more of an arcade/cartoon style) is still debatable.  Gran Turismo is the Sales King in that category, but you can still argue ratings and other "scoring" methods.

All you people arguing about Forza and Gran Turismo, and meanwhile I am enjoying the definitive racing game according to...to...to fans!

It's interesting, reading those GT reviews. It truly shows insight into how the review process has changed over the course of the generation. Article after article calls it the best Gran Turismo, the best racing sim of the generation, or even the best racing sim on consoles, period, yet they go on to give it an 8/10, usually because it does nothing totally new.

Several reviews also compare it to the new Forza, which is also interesting. Is that fair or not? I don't know, to be honest. It seems like a comparison where they both suffer. GT has run up against the limitations of the PS3 while Forza sacrificed content in order to be a launch title.

Personally, I can't wait to see what GT7 brings to the table. I'm guessing that they're going to take their time with this one and it's going to be at least 3 or 4 years down the road. The next Forza should be interesting, too, assuming that it won't be a rush-job.

The most accurate information we have suggests a two year timeline. From what we've been getting for news PD have been working on GT7 for a while already.

I really hope Forza 6 isn't a rush job. If they start launching them too quickly it could cripple the series.

Really?  I did not know that.  That's awesome.  Still, PD is known for delays, so I'm not going to count those chickens yet.

I doubt Forza 6 will be rushed, especially after Forza 5 took so many review hits for lack of content.  It was likely intended to be a more robust version from the start, as Forza 5 obviously suffered from the launch dead-line.

I'm thinking that the next version for both franchises will be much superior efforts.

That's true, and it's not like it would kill anyone if we wait 3 years for GT7.

I hope you're right about Forza. I'd hate to see a great series ruined because someone doesn't feel like giving the devs enough time.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You also need to decide what you mean when you say "king of racing simulations". Are we talking just on consoles? Are we talking review scores? Are we talking best overal game in the genre? The most realistic? The most polished? The most complete? You could come up with a number of different answers depending on how you view the term "king of racing simulators".
