It's interesting, reading those GT reviews. It truly shows insight into how the review process has changed over the course of the generation. Article after article calls it the best Gran Turismo, the best racing sim of the generation, or even the best racing sim on consoles, period, yet they go on to give it an 8/10, usually because it does nothing totally new.

Several reviews also compare it to the new Forza, which is also interesting. Is that fair or not? I don't know, to be honest. It seems like a comparison where they both suffer. GT has run up against the limitations of the PS3 while Forza sacrificed content in order to be a launch title.

Personally, I can't wait to see what GT7 brings to the table. I'm guessing that they're going to take their time with this one and it's going to be at least 3 or 4 years down the road. The next Forza should be interesting, too, assuming that it won't be a rush-job.

The most accurate information we have suggests a two year timeline. From what we've been getting for news PD have been working on GT7 for a while already.

I really hope Forza 6 isn't a rush job. If they start launching them too quickly it could cripple the series.

Really?  I did not know that.  That's awesome.  Still, PD is known for delays, so I'm not going to count those chickens yet.

I doubt Forza 6 will be rushed, especially after Forza 5 took so many review hits for lack of content.  It was likely intended to be a more robust version from the start, as Forza 5 obviously suffered from the launch dead-line.

I'm thinking that the next version for both franchises will be much superior efforts.

Best three racing games of the 7th generation in no particular order are Burnout Paradise, Forza 4 and Forza Horizon.

Wow, the damage control. How about talking about the issue at hand?

The issue of comparing a next gen launch title to a game that has had years and years to develop on a console that they're 7 years familiar with? And at that 1 point on Metacritic determines the genre of racing?

What damage control I'm just speaking the truth here and if you don't believe me look up the games metascores they back up my argument 100%.  All three are higher rated then both GT5 and GT6.

gt is just such a better game, go and try forza 5 the handling is atrocious

Yes. The fact remains that GT is once again the king of racing, both at metacritic and in sales.

There has to be a constant to compare the two games, either both have to be next gen or both have to be on familiar hardware and easier to develop for. You're comparing apples to oranges here.

So both are let downs... yay?

The constant is that they released at the exact same time so they can be directly compared. Review standards change with time, which is why constantly linking to Forza 4 is mind-numbing.

Coming out at the same time is not a constant if the hardware is unfamiliar to the developer.

Makes Pugsly's thread hilarious. I don't care otherwise.
