Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Faithfuls don't actually support the Wii-U.

I think the main reason why people don't buy the wii u because a lot of people can't afford pc's so they go for consoles also they can only afford one console so that one console they choose has to have great 3rd party support and 1st party support wii u does one but barely 3rd party support so i think wii u is going to end in 3rd place while ps4 probaly 1st place but barely

I agree 100% with your words.  Here is one of my  biggest grypes of gamers.

- Some claim to be Hardcore gamers, some Casual gamers, some game on and off, but are gamers through and through. But yet when a new console launches, you hear the " I'm not going to pick it up until (Insert favorite game here) is released. That to me makes no sence. If gamers dont support the console at launch, do you think the casual gamers will ? NOPE. Gamers drive the video game industry, we have to be the ones to go out and support our artform. If we dont, then we are to blame if it die off.

Who are u agreeing with? Lol

I agree that its kinda dumb to wait for one specific game but it makes perfect sense not to buy a console at launch if there arent any games that appeal to u regardless of who makes the console. I bought a 3DS in Oct 2011, it had just recently recieved an $80 price cut and I bought it with Zelda OoT 3D, a remake of one of my favorite games. Also Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 were both about a month away from releasing so it seemed like a good time to buy it. After that I bought a PS3 on black friday in 2012. It had an awesome deal for $199 it included a PS3 Super Slim with Uncharted 1&2, Infamous 1&2 and a month of PS+, I also bought God of War Sagas for $15 and Uncharted 3 for $15 so for $230 I got a console/bluray player and 10 games.

Looking at the line up for Wii U in the first 9 months, the only games that dont appear on either PS3 or 3DS are Nintendo Land (couldnt care less about this game), ZombiU(looks decent), Game & Wario (same as Nintendo Land), Lego City (looks decent), NSMBU (I like this series but just played the 3DS installment). So of the 5 exclusives on Wii U from Nov-July there were 2 I didnt want, 2 that I was slightly interested in and one that I was interested in. For me that certainly isnt enough to warrant a $300+ purchase.

From August onward they have slowly compiled a library that is looking more and more appealing. Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD, and Mario 3D World are all games that I have high interest In and the console now comes bundled with a game I would like to own so now Wii U looks like a worthy purchase to me. I would buy one now if  I werent so broke at the moment.

I still dont get why u think people should blindly buy a console just because there a fan of the company who makes it.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

It's something that happens in due time. There aren't 100m Nintendo loyalists, so it would be ridiculous to expect same sales.

Super Mario 3D World is doing great for it's current install base, but the lack of consoles moving significantly is strike one. We have to wait and see with DKCTF, MK8 and SSB next year, which are the next significant Nintendo exclusives.

The Wii U is a piece of trash. The Wii was glorious.

A straightforward analysis that explains sales.

This.

I never said that anyone should blindly go out and purchase a console when it is launched. Frankly, I would think the people that are aware of a console launch would indeed be the Faithful gamers. Were following gaming news 24/7 aernt we ?

When the Wii-U was launched it was hailed as one of the broadest game library launched by a console "Nintendo faithfuls were salivating on this", so saying that there were not enough launch games is kind of a bland statement.

NSMB Wii-u/ Zombie U and Nintendo Land were the equilalant of PS4's "Killzone Shadow Fall/Resogun/ knack vs XBOXONE's Dead Rising/ Forza/ Ryse"

So tell me, If the faithfuls dont purchase the launch consoles, who will ?

How do you know this??

Gamecube sold 21m (a portion of those not Nintendo faithfuls) so for all we know the Nintendo home console fanbase was around 15m going into the Wii era, which may or may not have added any to that.

Perhaps 10m~ is that the Nintendo home console fanbase make up now.

And you can't expect them to all jump on board in the first 12 months! WiiU should be at 10m early 2015 that gives them 2 years for software to come along that appeals to them.

Maybe WiiU is just not an attractive home console, even for Nintendo fans.

That is way better than what you are saying. 10 Million Nintendo fans WW. Sure. >>

ask the sony fans about the vita....

ask Microsoft fans about the windows phones....

ask sega fans about their software....

yeah because people have unlimited supply of money....

Why should I be faithful to a game company? I didn't sign up for a cult.
If the games are appealing then you buy it.
Theres nothing wrong with not buying a system if it doesn't appeal to you.

honestly, I never get a console in it's first year. Usually year 2 or 3 after a price drop. I've actually been really tempted with the wii-u, but Nintendo has made some mistakes that are delaying my gusto. The 1st was release pikmin 3 for the wii-u. It felt a bit insulting that one of my most anticipated wii games was not only skipping the platform after being announced in development, but could've easily been the cross-platform gem that twilight princess was. Next, the titles that 3rd parties ended up developing sequels to games not native to Nintendo without publishing the the 1st titles for Nintendo. that one isn't nescessarily Nintendo's fault, but I feel like they could've given some sort of incentive. I don't like mixing franchise platforms. The value hasn't nescessarily been there either. I really feel like a wii-u nsmb-u deluxe bundle at 300-350$ would've have been the way to go. Lastly, the 1st must have title for the system just came out; and that's Mario 3dworld. I will definitely get one once smash releases, and by then there will be round 10 titles i'll want, and 5 at a decent price. I also rarely get games on launch day at full price. I just don't have the income for that. All that being said, I can't wait to get one.

Another thread askng us to explain the actions of an unkown mass the OP says said something.

Sorry, i dont know who said what you say. Maybe you can call them out individually so they can answer. Nintendo faithfuls... what kind of group description is that even?! Even in calling these people out you use a derogatory term.
I swear, the trolling on these forums is getting out of hand...
