Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Faithfuls don't actually support the Wii-U.

Not buying a WiiU until I finish what I have for the Wii. Plus I need a really good game before I buy a console.

Not buying a Wii U until X releases.
Bought a 3DS after Fire Emblem released.
Bought a Wii after Donkey Kong Country Returns released (but I borrowed one a lot after Metroid Prime 3 released)
Bought a DS after Advance Wars: Dual Strike released.
Bought a GCN after Smash Bros. Melee released.
Bought a GBA day 1 because of fanboyism, was happy with Golden Sun, Fire Emblem & Advance Wars.
Bought an N64 after Mario Kart 64 released.
Bought a Gameboy after Donkey Kong Land released.

and so on. Not too crazy about MK, Smash, or Super Mario, but X will make me buy a WiiU immediatly.

honestly, I never get a console in it's first year. Usually year 2 or 3 after a price drop. I've actually been really tempted with the wii-u, but Nintendo has made some mistakes that are delaying my gusto. The 1st was release pikmin 3 for the wii-u. It felt a bit insulting that one of my most anticipated wii games was not only skipping the platform after being announced in development, but could've easily been the cross-platform gem that twilight princess was. Next, the titles that 3rd parties ended up developing sequels to games not native to Nintendo without publishing the the 1st titles for Nintendo. that one isn't nescessarily Nintendo's fault, but I feel like they could've given some sort of incentive. I don't like mixing franchise platforms. The value hasn't nescessarily been there either. I really feel like a wii-u nsmb-u deluxe bundle at 300-350$ would've have been the way to go. Lastly, the 1st must have title for the system just came out; and that's Mario 3dworld. I will definitely get one once smash releases, and by then there will be round 10 titles i'll want, and 5 at a decent price. I also rarely get games on launch day at full price. I just don't have the income for that. All that being said, I can't wait to get one.

Maybe Pikmin 3 was in development for the Wii U all along?...

You expect every Nintendo fan to buy a Wii U in its first year of release?

Actually yes. The Wii had no games its last year or so. Unless Ninty fans these days are content with DS.

I guess other factors such as financial instability should not be taken into consideration, its just if your a Nintendo fan you are expected to buy a Wii U right away.  Also the 3DS does have a lot of must own games, idk what your trying to insinuate there.

Im not insuating anything. Times have definately changed as far as Nintendo fans are concerned.

In my Nintendo glory days, Nintendo consoles were

1. The most expensive

2. The best graphics

3. 3rd party heaven

Nowadays what Ninty fans are saying is although now the cheapest console, less support and weaker visuals they arent interested in buying it straight away. Very different from the days when I paid £350 for a Nintendo 64 with no free game. And that was in a different climate for money. That was expensive. But it was worth every penny.

I have watched Nintendo change drastically. They have. Alot. Which I guess is why I moved elsewhere. I still yearn to be 14 again, IMO those days were my faveourite Gaming days. I loved Nintendo so much growing up.

This really baffles me. I've been browsing forums on the web for some time now. From IGN to Gametrailers, Joystiq, 1UP to GamesRadar. There seem to be a vast following of Nintendo gamers that are very passionate to the Nintendo brand.

You Nintendo faithfuls have supported Nintendo consoles through it all. The ups of the NES, the downs of the Gamecube and the insanity that was the Wii.

The Wii-U has been on the market for well over a year now, It was the only " Next Gen " console on the market in 2013 up until November 14th,  has released some fan favorite characters in titles such as Pickmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Monster Hunter, New Super Luigi U and Super Mario 3D World,  but yet still  the sales of the Wii-U is at a mear 4.5 million ?

Are the Nintendo faithfuls to blame for the lackluster Wii-U sales to this point ?

If so, If you are a Nintendo Faithful, why have you NOT bought a Wii-U yet ?

Think about what MADE people a Nintendo fan.

The core of it is nostalgia. They can harp back to the good old days when they were 8, had no worries and were playing Mario/Zelda etc. This was born really with the SNES and N64.

...however then things went downhill for Nintendo refreshing this market audience. The Gamecube was up against the PS2 which everyone remembers and became their nostalgic console. The Wii then was aimed at casual players and did not breed and new nostalgic fans. So in short, Nintendo did a good job battering their target audience into the ground.

Also as for being next gen, it isn't. This is not even up for debate anymore with how many sources agree with me. Something is only next generation when it pushes technology, NOT release date. This is how every other bit of kit, from cars, planes, to nuclear reactors work. Consoles are not an exception to this rule.

Plus, no new IPs for years hasn't helped as it is not drawing in new people.

I wouldn't credit Nintendo faithfulls for the Gamecube.....it was their lack of support that made it the least selling console of the gen. Nintendo faithfulls are a minority of grown adults that play Nintendo for the nostalgia. Otherwise Nintendos power comes from attracting new after new generations of children, which grow up and flock to Xbox/PS/PC.

Before haters come in......the only 6th gen console I owned was a Gamecube. I know, whodathunkit?

Hey me too Gamecube only. I missed so much from that generation :(.

Lets see how many of them bought a Wii U with 3D World.

Well your taking about the N64 which had Super Mario 64 from day 1, the Wii U will get its big games like SSB, Mario Kart, and others next year, you can't expect people to buy a console when there are not enough games out for them to justify the purchase.  It makes no sense to expect people to buy a box just because it says Nintendo on it if it doesn't have the games they want to play on it, I don't care if they are Nintendo supporters or not.

I have 17 retail WiiU games.

You aren´t talking about me.

Do you trolls climb out of your mothers @nu$ in the morning just thinking of retarded things to say? I mean really, it seems the most uneducated and uninformed comments and threads come out of this forum...
