It's hard to tell what nintendo will do next seeing as how they've gotten themselves into an even bigger flop than gamecube.

I love this kind of comments ahahaha 4 years down the road if the WiiU do not sells 24+million you may say that, cuz all i can see now is the WiiU sales getting up and up across the globe.

What exactly is so funny about my comment ? The WII U is a burning platform. It's tracking LOWER than gamecube this whole god damned year. You can deny all the data we've had so far but there's simply more evidence on my part than yours.

This is what I was thinking should be Nintendo's set of moves.

Redesign the controller and make the screen 4 - 5 inches, and make it sleek and not as bulky, along with dropping any useless features so it could be cheaper. You sell this along side separately so people can choose one or the other or both. At the same time, develop the whole two players using the gamepad at the same time and design some kick ass add ons to new and even old games through downloads taking advantage of that feature. This also come in addition with a new bundle with a game with the new sleeker controller and because it's cheaper, perhaps they could drop the price to 250.

This is in addition to start developing some of their games on google play. I say this for a few reasons. While a lot of the games are garbage, I'm seeing a lot of development from companies creating accessories for the google play store. Also people are already playing their games on google play, they are called emulators. Why not give people a legal option to purchase their games who don't want to pay 300 dollars for the system. A common objection is that touch controls don't work as well as a controller. and to that I say I agree. That is why you form agreements with companies like Moga, Mad catz, Nyko, and others who produce controllers so they can offer them on their store. You don't put out your best games or even your newest games, but at least some games. Nintendo could also do it in a way that they could get some advertising for their products the 3ds and Wii U...Like saying hey...if you like these just imagine what it would be like on these actual systems. Another reason for this, is that it is another revenue stream, it diversifies the company a little bit,  and if the handheld market gets a nice chunk eaten out of it from mobile games let's say like a decline of about a 1/3 over the next few years, they are prepared. They've already done the leg work to be able to adapt rather than it being forced on them and being years late to the party.

And on the touch screen argument, while not all games are conducive to be played on a touch screen, but some games are. How about RPG's, strategy, puzzle games. Mario RPG, Dr. Mario, whatever else that falls under. Beef up the graphics and put some of those games out so it gives people incentive to buy it rather than just ripping em off through emulators.

Those would be my recommendations. While I think Nintendo is going to be around for a long time, I'm troubled by their lack of prospect for growth and that should be the goal of a company. How do we maximize profits along with staying relevant in this industry? If the Wii U only sells 30 - 40 million which is more or less in line with other systems such as gamecube and  N64  and perhaps a 100 million for 3ds , which is down from the ds, then they are not growing their company. If that's the case,  it's time to mix things up.

Just my two cents

The more dire the situation Nintendo is in with the Wii U the more likely I think Nintendo will go with VR next gen.

Something to think about... every Nintendo console sold less than the previous with the exception of the Wii. Nintendo needs to go all out creative and innovative and uber revolutionary next gen or the trend will continue.

You're joking, right? The Gamecube lacked 3rd party support.

It actually literally didn't. It has a healthy amount of third party support, it even got a port of Metal Gear Solid with features from MGS2. It had all of the EA sports games, it had the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games, it had many of the early Medal of Honor titles as well as CoD 2, several Tom Clancy games, it had Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur II and the RE games, Timesplitters, Tony Hawk, Balder's Gate, Beyond Good and Evil, Red Faction II, LOTR: The Third Age, Need For Speed, Second Sight, Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos, decent rpgs like Summoner and Lost Kingdom, Pac-Man World 2 & 3, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, X-men Legends, Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7, a lot of Sega support like Sonic, Billy Hatcher, Super Monkey Ball, Phantasy Star Online, Crazy Taxi, etc., as well as the Prince of Persia trilogy, etc. etc. etc.

It obviously had plenty. There were only a few big multiplat titles, such as GTA, that GC really didn't get. What it didn't have, were a lot of third party exclusives.

If they launch in 2017 it will be doomed again. At that time the xbox one and PS4 will be in full swing, have more games and most likely be cheaper just like the ps360 against the wii U.
They launched the wii U too early when people were satisfied with the other systems, maybe they will take into account competition this time.

I think Nintendo is done with consoles to be honest. They will find a new business model to work off of soon and will ride Wii U out for another two holiday seasons before basically abandoning it.

Iwata's comments show the writing is on the wall. Unless they can find a new Wiimote like miracle, consumers are not interested in a niche console that is missing 1/2 of the third party games they want and isn't anything remarkable hardware wise.

Nintendo is just making machines for a shrinking group of hardcore Nintendo enthusiasts at this point.

By 2016/17, the PS4 will be $199.99 or less ... why pay more for a new Nintendo console that's probably not much more powerful and is starting from scratch with 10-20 games, whereas the PS4 will have a mature library of hundreds of games many of them discounted to $20.

Unfortunately Nintendo themselves dropped the ball with the GameCube. No true successor to Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, or GoldenEye/Perfect Dark. Twilight Princess was obviously way too late. Even Mario Kart was somewhat weak on their part I think, too few tracks.

Nintendo needs a major upgrade on their network and online structure.

Why don't they first put accounts together and add achievements and stuff?
Imagine if they would make a unified account called Nintendo Club. Simple as that. Everyone who already has a "Nintendo Club" account on Nin's website could be largely expanded with, like, you know, stuff like adding a Mii (avatar) to your profile, and displaying all games ever purchased and registered on the account and stuff.

So it won't matter if you have a Wii U, 3DS or any newer console that comes in the future. You have your Nintendo Club account and just log with it on any Nintendo device and play any game that you purchased for it or on virtual console. This thing right now - buying 2 of the same game for 3DS and Wii U is just stupid! Why would anyone do that?

Nintendo network ID needs to be gone. Not gone - re branded to be more appealing. Just call it Nintendo Club.

Nice idea of rebranding the generic Nintendo Network name to the already used Nintendo Club!

Email it to Iwata ASAP.

...wait, NN looks cool, NC nope. I'm having second thoughts.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

But it would be great if Nin could make a whole marketing deal around "Nintendo Club".

Just imagine. They could make trailers showing Nin games and stuff, and at the end just display something like "Welcome to Nintendo Club" or "Join the Nintendo Club". If and when they release new consoles, the message would stay the same - join the Club - Nintendo Club.

So that would mean like I said before, unified account for all things Nintendo - personal info, nick, Mii, maybe an mobile authenticator for whole that, all software you own for any Nin system etc.

Any you know what they should do?

I have read somewhere that "Nintendo is experimenting with smartphones" in a sense that they are looking for a way to tease mobile users with games and make you get Nin's hardware in order to play that software, right?

Well, imagine if Nin would make a "Nintendo Club" app for smartphones. The app would be somewhat of a base for Nin's trailers/demos, uploaded and managed by Nin itself. The thing would play some sexy trailer for some upcoming game, then let you "play" the trailer for 6-10 seconds, and then continue with the trailer (and maybe let you play the trailer again near the end).

To clarify, let's say you run the "Nintedno Club" app. You see a Mario Kart 8 trailer and click it. Then it starts playing the trailer and in the background the app is loading game data, for a breif demo tease. So after like 25 seconds into the trailer, suddenly you are given control over Yoshi for like 5 seconds, you get the message above like "Tilt the phone to steer!" and that's it! You are playing the "demo" all out of nowhere. It doesn't matter if you fail hard, or if you throw a shell on bowser in front of you, or if you just crash at everybody for that 5 seconds, after that your "demo" is over and the trailer just continues like before. Now you are seeing the stages and power ups and what not, and than at 1:18 you are once again thrown into a tease demo, you have the control over Rosalina on a bike! After IDK 5-7 seconds, the play time is over once again, and the trailer goes on and comes to a closure. At the end - available only on Wii U date X/Y or Join the Club date X/Y or IDK whatever.

And you know, imagine the same scenario for other games and other Nin systems. Super Mario 3D World maybe. That thing would explode all over smartphones. Everyone would get "Nintendo Club App" and just kind of have it on their phones. I know I would play that MK8 trailer just for 10 seconds of gameplay over and over again. Hell, someone near me would probably throw an eye to see what I am doing, and maybe get interested, witch is the whole point of this app. Getting to millions of people with smartphones to have the app, running trailers(demos) of Nintendo's games, teasing them, and spreading joy of it to a person (or ppl) next to you! What better marketing can you get? You are bypassing the TV commercial thing all the way with a thing like this.

Ah, anyway guys, thanks for listening. :D

Kind of a long post, but whatever.
