Insane? Yes! Impossible? Noooo!

Black Friday was week 4 in 2012  and  week 5 for 2013. BF 2013> 2012 Best week, I can see 3DS doing 1.5mil for the biggest week, and it just might do it in both weeks 7+8! If it does O.o

But thing is Black Friday is quite skewed between year to year. Last year the 3DS had a horrible BF performance which is why it did much better the next few weeks. 360 on the other hand had its best week in America on BF week  in 2011 and 2012. I really don't think there's a direct correlation, especially since i think the $99 2DS's played a big part in this.

That said, Nintendo consoles tend to sell well throughtout the holidays so this is indeed a great sign for things to come.

I disagree. The 3DS had nothing driving its sales last December, and Black Friday came a week earlier, which should theoretically result in a greater chance for a "cooling off" period before the Holiday really kicks into gear. Zelda alone is a bigger Holiday release than Paper Mario was, and in Japan the 3DS has a big lineup for December, which should result in great hardware sales for the month.

It's possible that the 3DS will decline globally next week, but by how much? It's also possible that it's overtracked, but again, by how much?

I think it's pretty clear that the answer to both of those questions is "not enough." Not enough to prevent the console from averaging 1 million per week for the next four weeks.

And if it is NOT overtracked, or does NOT decline? We're going to have a good laugh at those saying 15-16 mil was unpossible.


Thing is I still think it's overtracked in Europe even though they adjusted it upwards which was strange.

It's definitely overtracked in Europe now YTD, though I'm not sure about BF numbers specifically. If you go back to I think the fist week of July, weeky numbers show about 50k sales, but the difference in LTD sales from the previous week is more like 150k. This discrepancy isn't fixed in any subsequent week.

True, but that didn't effect the fact that week of 20th december was still around twice BF week!

the 360 on the other hand gets most of its sales in the USA,So the indicator multiplier for the 360 is alot smaller.

3DS has had its biggest ever November, and it should at least match 2011's December imo (with EU and NA more than compensating a decline in Japan). That will put it at least 16m for the year, and that's IF it doesn't outdo 2011.

Could easily be heading for 17m for the year, and for those who don't know, the 360 and PS3 never even managed 15m a year (PS3 did 14.7m). So that's quite an impressive number!

Yeah, agreed. It's rather exciting now waiting to find out the numbers!

Btw, just checked up that the 3DS never managed 500k a week in America before. 750k looking even more and more impressive.

i'll repeat 2ds has brought the 3ds into ds numbers.

so i wont be suprised to see 1.7 mill week of 13 dec. and 2.1 week of 20 dec.
