Forums - Sony - Will PS Vita ever get a Monster Hunter title or is it Nintendo 3DS' forever?

I sure hope so. So Sony can stop developing/chasing after Monster Hunter clones and start going after some more interesting content instead.

MH5 will be on smartphones.

Capcom is already investing all the MH4 profits into their new mobile department.

Did they say all? I don't even see how traditional MH gameplay would work on a smartphone.

Does it really matter?

Why would they? 3DS userbase in Japan is soo much bigger and that's where the majority of MH fans are now.

No its not....

3DS versions of MH have barely reached half of what the PSP games sold.  3million versus 6million.

Large userbase doesn't equal fanbase in this case. Just because its available to more ppl doesn't mean the fanbase is also included in that. Remember PSP userbase was also dwarfed by DS's but MonHun found success there when they didn't on consoles(even larger install base).

MonHun on 3DS might appear to be more profitable in the short term, but I doubt it in the long. Capcom has probably opted for NIN exclusivity due to A. Moneyhat and B. Allows them to reuse old assets. Barring the moneyhatt funds, Capcom stood to make the same amount of sales on Vita with the potential to be greater because PSP/Vita fanbase overlaps at about 90%. Crapcom could have just as easily reused assets on Vita too. Attach rate on Vita games is also big right now.

THIS!^

I care very little for MonHun, I actually prefer some of the clones. I have never wanted a game that I have no interest in to hit a system I own just so all the focus to go back to things I actually like......like traditional JRPGs, and other story based games. Its a lot like COD on consoles in that respect >_>

Why would they?
After MH4 announcement people were expecting a Vita version. And nothing happpend. Then, after launch that another original or 4 version, and again, nothing. No new MH, no 3G, 4 versions. The only thing that is coming is Frontier G, a game that even 360 and Wii U is getting.

Get over, it won't come to Vita, there's no bussiness sense to do that.

you mean 4 million vs 4.8 million.

and knowing MH's legs it'll probably surpass it sooner or later.

Capcom has shipped 4 million MH4 copies, the bestselling MH on the PSP shipped 4,8 million (both numbers don´t include the cheaper rerelease)

Monster Hunter 4 has a holiday season ahead.

It could end up ouselling Portable 3rd, if not, it will come very close.

The majority IS on the 3DS.

Yes. Otherwise we get super dumbed down MH with bad gameplay.

But Monster Hunter's gameplay is already bad and MonHun is Capcom's whore to be shopped around wherever they feel they can make a quick buck.

Monster Hunter 4 already shipped 4M in Japan alone and will have a great december. Also, it already beat Capcom's plan twice (they expected to sell 2,8M til april 2014, then raised forecast to 3,3M and already at 4M...) Game is a great success. Capcom will not abandon platform with established fanbase now.

Monster Hunter 4G will be released on 3DS for sure.

Firstly, your figures are wrong. 3DS MonHun has currently done 4 Million for Capcom while the highest selling PSP title, using data we have available, is sat at 5.4 Million and not the 6 Million you stated.

Capcom have shipped/sold 4 Million copies of MH4 on 3DS in Japan alone and a 2 Year old port of MH Tri sold 2.3 Million units worldwide. Thats 6.3 Million copies of MonHun on 3DS sold in ~3 Years, with MH4 yet to release in the West.

If youre talking about the West, then the last MonHun game on a non-Nintendo platform was released in 2008. Since then the MonHun games have been on Wii, 3DS and Wii U over here. Basically, the MonHun fanbase is on Nintendo platforms right now with 3DS being the primary platform.

They dont need the Vita. When they do eventually release a MH title on the system, it will be more for them to milk what they can out of the system than giving it anything meaningful. See how they dealt with the franchise on PS3.
