Forums - Sales - PS4 sold through 2.1 million units worldwide as of 12/1 (700k EU)

Considering the reports we got from infoscout, can we assume PS4 sold around 300k on BF, while X1 made around 500k-600k? This, along with EU sales could put them both quite close to each other WW, however Sony seems to have shortages so they probably have the potential to sell quite a few more units if there were some.

No we cant assume that. 1. infoscout organized a small survey, its not representative. 2. It was only about Target and Walmart. 3. If the xbone sold 2:1 PS4, Microsoft would have a press release saying how much they sold.

PS4 is ahead WW. Sony is selling the most units in NA and UK. MS should be very worried for losing their only strongholds.

Infoscout used more then just target and wallmart. GameStop, Best Buy, and a few others were in play.

MS didn't have a press release talking about how well the MS sold XBO's because they didn't sell out, where Sony sold out of PS4 inventory.

Plus 600k in USA + 100k in EU still puts the XBO behind the PS4 by 200k. Considering PS4 is selling out, this could mean a huge lead for PS4 once they can start meeting demand.

I doubt MS sold 600k xbones on black friday. It is still not sold out and dont think they have that much more stock than Sony.

Wait, 700K in EU? I figured it would be bigger than in NA, I guess NA is Sony Land now!

I am not sure this is an indication af anything. It just sold 700k in EU because Sony didn`t deliever more than 700k. So many people here that want a PS4 but can`t get one.

Much lower than I expected, and obviously the 250K reported in UK has to be too high.

So, 1.2M prior to global launch week.

Global launch week = ~900K

700K Europe and Australasia

200K Nth and Sth America.

PS4 Black Friday in the USA only 50-100K (leaving 100-150K for Latin America.

If Infoscout is right that means only 100-200K Xb one's sold in USA on BF week, and also only 100-200K 360's sold on BF. I call bullshit on that. 360 absolutely sold more than 200K on black Friday. Either that or 360 sales are dying fast (and PS3 even faster) now that the new generation is here.

I think Infoscout market share % is waaaay out, because the more or less confirmed PS4 ballpark for BF would mean the worst BF for home console sales in living memory if the best selling home console only sells 200K.

That PS4 number leads to more questions than answers.

maybe i'm stupid but why are some people in this thread like “people will be shocked about these high numbers“ when all i read the last weeks was “1m day one north america and it will be 1m day one in europe“?

numbers are massive but not more than anybody expected the last weeks.

there's more bundles coming to europe in like 10 days, i wonder how that will affect the numbers when they sell out. a friend of mine is waiting for his pre-order cause he picked the bundle with killzone, 2 ds4 and the camara and those were coming on december 15 over here.

I think you'll be floored how unreliable infoscout is when NPD comes in.  Let's face it, how does it feel to have the best selling console during black friday but the exclusives are barely selling in their charts.

That would be downplaying it if the expectatives themselves within a certain group are dissonant from what the average man might expect.

For instance, if I'm within a group of optimist economists, if the US were to grow 4-5% this year, it wouldn't be held as surprising, though objetively it is.

So, given VGChartz is made up mostly of males on the 15-19 age bracket who are enthusiastic about games and game companies...

450K for EU seems a little low, especially compared to the 250K UK pulled. I guess whatever SONY shipped sold and they simply couldn't ship enough.

In comparison PS3 did 600K in Europe in its opening two days...

Not to say PS4 didn't do very well, as PS3 itself had a blockbuster launch back then (and didn't really sell out)
