Forums - Nintendo - A Zelda idea: How about an older/middle aged link?

I would like a seasoned warrior Link, it would be a good excuse to start off with all basic item versions, like in LBW.
In a note, i would also enjoy a spin-off where you play as Zelda/Sheik. I mean, she is also blessed with the Triforce.

Would be great if they found ways of improving on the new LBW system. Could maybe integrate the weapons more into combat as well, adding in more active combo's. By not having to find items this could open up the possibility of exploring and mastering magic. His personality should reflect the years of training and battles he's gone through, potential to really change up the gameplay in combat and exploration.

Hey, how about this. You can have a game about an old Link, it would be very cool. But what if there was a game (maybe the same game!) where Link appoints a new legendary hero to do something very important. That's how easily they can have an epic spinoff franchise.

I would love some kind of spinoff series, but I would rather it be from one of the villians perspective!

how about a game, in which link is foretold to save the world. but he isn't old and strong enough. so he gets a potion which accelerates the aging. but it gets out of control and link ages though the game. in the end he fights as a grandpa and shortly after the battle, he dies in piece.

The Zelda does have a large female demographic, and I don't know if they will be handle a an gruff, older Link. A young adult Link would work better.

Too old and maybe he will turn off younger players. Why risk it? Personally I would not like him to be over 30.

Personally I'd love to play a female Link. And in my boredom I came up with a nice story for how it could work in game...

Game begins with female 'Link' ~20 years old being trained by guy in his 50s/60s. The world is a wasteland and it becomes apparent that Ganondorf defeated the Hero and took over the Kingdom of Hyrule ~20 years previously.

(Do you see where this is going)

After a few dungeons, Link gets sent back to the war with Ganon to help out. AND.... it's Zelda!

The old guy at the start is actually Link, who rescued Zelda as a baby, knowing that his triforce of courage needed to work with her triforce of wisdom in order to defeat Ganon and save the world.

Zelda then has the classic LOZ game where she goes to temples/dungeons to collect the magical shinies needed to give Link (who is general in the army fighting against Ganons forces; how cool would epic fantasy battles be going on in the background on Hyrule Field whilst you're racing to deliver medicine to some old bint?). They work together to rescue the past, before Zelda has to return to the future in order to defeat Ganon there, rescuing her own timeline.

Eiji, if you read this and want to use my story, 10% royalties; sales, not profit ;)

I do hope that Nintendo goes EPIC with Zelda U.

It needs to be dark, intense and cinematic to give the Wii U what it needs.

I like this model.

If the game starts with you playing as grandpa link from a past incarnation and you were fighting evil until your last breath and you DIE.
And then 100 years later you play as the new incarnation of Link just to win the battle grandpa link lost = YAY (TBH that would be kinda cool )

But playing grandpa link or even 40 year old Link for 40+ hours  OH GOD PLEASE NO!
