Forums - Nintendo - A Zelda idea: How about an older/middle aged link?

Roma said:
that is too old. 30 - 40 would be ok in my book and maybe even have a daughter and wifu to save this time instead of a sister ?

Thats what i was trying to say, but honestly there is no pictures of a link in 30's/40's, just old as hell or young as hell. IF someone could help find me one that would be great

I actually suggested this in another thread a few months ago...
Make Link a parent...
Instead of just saving Zelda like always, have him save his kids...
Or if Nintendo really wanted to mess with fans' heads...
They could make Zelda his daughter...

Have a nice day...

Reason why I think that doesn't work is because of the lore of the franchise to begin with.  How could they justify making that decision?  They could definitely try going for someone who isn't Zelda or a female,  but if it were his kid... it would slowly become a different game due to the fact that it messes with the "timeline."

No, please don't make him have to save his kids like someone suggested. How lame would that be.

you mean what IGN were talking about??
The Last of Us Hyrule

Can't happen, because older people never stop talking

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Zelda just like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts etc is a kid/young adult saves the world video game that appeals to the targeted audiences that play these type of games: kids and young adults. Using  characters the intended market audiences can relate to is usually a commercial winning formula. A middle aged/old aged lead character may not be as appealing as a young lead character for a Zelda game.

Nintendo wouldn't do that unless a new protagonist could be formed. They dont want to lose their young audience.
