No way will it top PS2, PS2 had a huge variety of games, next gen will be overloaded with shooters once again. It'll be lucky if it does more than even PS1.

By huge variety, you mean the PS1 being overloaded with RPGs and PS2 being overloaded with Sandbox games? Your statement can just as easily be generalized.

They listened so hard that they decided to make PS+ almost mandatory :). The sooner you realize that Sony isn´t one bit better than the big N or MS, the better off you are.

Oh come on making plus mandatory was necessary, they really had no choice, that is obvious.  Especially considering sony's financials.

Only 250 million PS4's. Why aim so low? Microsoft wants to sell half a billion Xbones. I am disappointed at you OP.

I remember seing Bill Gates saying they would sell in those figures for the original Xbox.

This time it is our resident tv fan Yusuf Mehdi who think that next gen consoles combined will sell 1 billion. At least he is not a doomer like us forum members.

Don't know what is more crazy, predict WiiU to sell 25M (Patcher level of lunacy) or PS4 to sell 250M (Yusuff level of demency)...

WiiU won't do less than 40 (I believe 50M) unless Ninty decides to cut it premature (that kind of premature I remember the shitty VirtuaBoy - that at the time I was dying to have), and PS4 won't do more than 200M (I believe 150M is already a stretch)... but being doomed is so much better... PS4 will sell just 20M causing Sony to get out of bussiness and will develope to Nintendo Handhelds because WiiU will desell and finish with 0.

I agree, Sony is doing well at the moment. The company has carried the momentum (and lessons) from the second half of PS3's life well into the PS4.

200million is crazy, mind.

For some realistic predictions:
Wii U - 30million lifetime (sorry, I have one but I can't see it getting better than that)
PS4 - 100 million (a good, solid amount. If PS3 managed 80mil+, with its huge price, terrible launch, and lack of early games, and the same gen as Wii... PS4 should top it).
Xbox One - 65million. Good, a solid amount, but PS4 will beat it clearly it thanks to a resurgent PS brand in Europe and much better momentum out the gates in America. Xbox 360 had a year head start and a great first few years... and PS3 and 360 are level now. This time, PS will start ahead and stay ahead.

My Blog, Please Have A Read:

PS4 should win this console cycle, but it'll never be like it was in the PS2 days.

XB1 and PS4 will have 95% of the same games.

they will sell 100m in the first year!

Do you expect a drop of almost 100M in consoles??? Let's not forget Vita drag and 3DS not tracking above DS that we will maybe see a 50M drop in handheld or more... that isn't very reasonable...

I could see console numbers reverting back to where they were. I think Wii last gen brought in a lot of gamers that aren't going to be buying a console this cycle. Last console cycle was a boom period, this one will be more traditional.

So something like

PS4 - 100 million

XB1 - 70 million

Wii U - 28 million

Wouldn't surprise me.
