Forums - Nintendo - Is Link Dead in Majora's Mask?

Isn't the Link in Twilight Princess a descendent of the Link in MM? Also considering the fact that the hero of time wasn't able to pass on his skills to those who came after him and that he regrets not being remembered as a hero suggests to me that he was alive but no one would believe his claims.

Well I've seen his "Final Fantasy is anti god" video and it was an utter joke.

Haven't watched that one, 'cause of spoilers. But many of the theories are just that, theories, not nearly any fact at all. He recently put up a series of videos titeled "mario is mental." We all know that's bullshit, but it's pretty cool nontheless.

This one is pretty cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF2mRcAoXLQ

No, he goes back to hyrule and grows up to be a great warrior. he is the skeleton warrior that teaches new moves to the link in twilight princess.

I love his videos. Even if i haven't played the games or I hear spoilers, his videos are entertaining as hell.

Some are a little more trollish than others but they are still fairly thorough and comprehensive.

I haven't watched the video, but I'm fairly certain Link in Majora's Mask is not dead.

For starters we know the intro of the game takes place in Hyrule. Or at least, in the same plain of existence as Hyrule. Link is robbed by the very real, very alive and very same Skull Kid from Ocarina of Time. The Skull Kid (or rather, the Mask) obviously knows what it's doing, because it goes immediately for the 'portal' to Termina. It has been confirmed that Termina is in a parallel dimension to Hyrule.
Also, if Link were dead, how could he meet with the Happy Mask Salesman? The Mask Salesman is obviously the same as the one in Ocarina of Time, and he even implies certain events about Majora's Mask's predecessor. At the end of the game, Link is seen riding through the very same forest as in the beginning of the game, meaning he made it out of Termina again.
Lastly, the ghost warrior in Twilight Princess, called the Hero's Shade, is confirmed to be the spirit of Ocarina/Majora's Link. Twilight Princess is on Majora's timeline, yet he seems to have been an adult. There's also more things in Twilight Princess that hint towards the Hero of Time, yet couldn't have been his if he didn't live out to be an adult like the 'Hero's Bow'.

Technically due to the whole time travel and ghost/spirit aspect you could say that the Link at the end of Ocarina and that the player played as during Majora's Mask had the spirit of a much older person then his body, hence upon death it reflected his true spirit. But really it doesn't matter either way Majora's Mask is effectively that particular Link's final game so whether the whole game he was dead, he dies five minutes after the credits or 50 years it really doesn't matter..

That's not quite what he said. He pointed out that Final Fantasy sometimes uses religious motifs for its antagonists, and not just a specific religion. Moreover, the idea of "killing God" in video games (and other media) extends far beyond Final Fantasy, although the series is a rather early example.

No. For one reason. Nintendo only used the same character models again because it would make development faster. The theory is very convincing though.

This is relevant.

That seems unlikely to be the full reason to me, given the amount of detail put into other elements of the game and the division of development teams. Minor changes to the character designs would be entirely viable. Though there were alot of characters in the game so that approach could actually have helped them.

But then I would to point one thing which makes that more bizzare; Nintendo tend to reuse the characters (with design tweaks) to suggest reincarnation... but in this game that is highly unlikely to be what they are suggesting.

His video on Mario being a communist was also pretty darn awesome.
