It makes total sense & I never thought of this game in this way before.
I just discovered The Game Theorists channel yesterday from NinZend0's channel—he had it in his likes or favorities list.
I first saw the Why Mario is Mental videos showing that Mario is really a bad guy then clicked the related links to see this interpretation of Majora's Mask.
EXCELLENT channel & I put it on my subscribed list right away.
I truly believe that Majora's Mask symbolizes Link's struggle with his own death.
The game has a purple & black color scheme on the cover instead of the usual gold.
Purple & Black are the darkest colors & both can symbolize death or the mourning of death.
How they tied this dark Zelda game with another dark Zelda game in Twilight Princess makes it come full circle.
When you look at the Fused Shadow you see echoes of the Mask of Majora.
The more you look back on the Zelda series the more you see that things in the series are not as coincidental as you once thought.
The Legend of Zelda series from day one has always dealt with religious metaphysical spiritual kinds of subject matter.
We thought it was simply some adventure with a kid fighting the bad guys with a cool sword.
From the very first Zelda in 1986 it dealt with spiritual subject matters. Link's original shield had the Christian cross on it.
Nintendo uses the Zelda series to hit you with the deep-thinking stuff.
The fun sword-fighting adventure stuff gets you into the game but then Nintendo overlays that hook with symbolism from a host of different spiritual beliefs.
And as each & every game comes out, you begin to notice more & more the depth of Nintendo's storytelling.
Mario's the moneymaker, Zelda's the Oscar winner.
The Hero is dead. That's why the flood that led to Wind Waker happened.
The land of Termina was an expression of how that Hero dealt with his death.
That same dead hero passes his knowledge on to the new hero of Twilight Princess.
The theory is good enough for me.
I LOVE the Zelda series because it inspires theories like this!
