Sounds like complete BS to me.

How can poeple who didn't even preorder the console just decide to drop whatever they are doing and jump in line for something they;

A) had no intent of buying.
B) Made no provisions for buying (nobody buys a £$400 console out of the blue, just like nobody jumps in line to buy the next iphone when they see a qeu forming outside the apple store)
C) Stores should honor whatever limited stock they have for people who actually preordered the console...

Way to go accusing someone of lying without having any evidence. As if all humans think the same. Great attitude indeed.

OT: Tell us more about the games. Did anyone buy Knack?

thought it would be mostly the loyalists at launch but of course always going to be impulse buys especially in the more affluent areas 400 notes isn't much if you have money but good to hear sony need america if they want to make decent money this gen

Well here in Finland, when xbone is released sometime in next year, Ps4 is sold out long ago at least in 1 of our biggest stores in my city.Easy win for Sony.(we are PS people anyway)

The game ratios are as expected.

Many are picking up Call of Duty: Ghost, Battlefield 4, or Assassin's Creed IV in that order.

Secondary Purchases has mostly been Killzone:SF

I have seen very few pick up Knack. One of my co-workers did tho. He really loves it. He's playing it on Hard because lower than that and the game is overly simplified but he says it really does well as a game for all ages. It would be a great introduction to someone who has never played games before. Haven't heard an inperson bad impression of the game yet.

Man that was an awesome read. It kind of makes me want to go to a midnight release, but I made sure to pre-order my PS4 right after E3 to ensure I would be getting one on launch. So I'll have the much less dramatic delivery of PS4 to my doorstep on release day.

What about the games?!

Exactly. Give us some more details man. Ones you have at least :)

Please

PLEASEEEE

In order of highest attach ratio with PS4....

  1. Call of Duty Ghost
  2. Battlefield 4
  3. Assassin's Creed IV
  4. Killzone SF
  5. Madden NFL 25
  6. Distant 5th is Knack
  7. Need for Speed
We have been able to get at least half of buyers to also pick up PS+. Wasn't too difficult when explain that "Yes, you need it to play online but you will also get major benefits such as access to free games every month. Resogun and Contrast are available to you right off the bat". Also hearing a few impressions of the F2P stuff from buyers, mainly Warframe and they sound good :)
One of the managers has had a few issues getting her console signed on tho.

Being supply constrained is great PR, the Wii was even hotter due to being out of stock all the time. People love to get a sense of purchasing something exclusive, allthough in a twist of irony, that mentality leads to items selling a lot and thus becoming the very opposite of exclusive!

Anyway, nice read, I wonder what the second week drop will be, or even the full first week sales.

Microsoft has officially came out to say that there will be a shortages of Xbox Ones for pre-order because they purposely held some back for walk-ins to buy who did not pre-ordered an Xbox One.  With that being said, we know you are an Xbox/Microsoft supporter which is fine, and there is no reason to not believe the previously mentioned scenario from Microsoft.  So it should NOT be hard for anyone to believe the OP's report.  For your sake, I hope you weren't so quick to believe Microsoft's intended action but yet discount the similar positive effect the PS4 launch is having of walk-ins purchasing a PS4.
